  5. Woodga, must take bloody ages to get mail delivered round your way..... I notice in the second picture that the Postie has left his bag behind for a bit of ferreting............
  6. Last winter, I had to stop mid February as things were getting a bit unsporting....... I was bolting youngsters a few weeks old and also like some of yourselves dressing heavily pregnant does All this at a time when there was snow on the ground!! I would definitely agree with Woodga, they seem to be breeding all year round...
  7. Cheers [bANNED TEXT] im sure he will as hes out of good working stuff, Im just holding back at the moment and give him a few more months, before doubleing up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A very sensible attitude to take Blackbob, early entering spoils many a potential good dog
  8. Very nice looking Beddy X you've got there Blackbob I bet he'll do the job for you....
  9. Very nice puppies there Keeps I've always been a fan of Plummers, despite what some of the threads say I'm hoping that in the next couple of years, I'll be in a position to get one myself. Make sure until then you keep your line going.....
  10. Blackbob, The area I've witnessed is on sand dunes and holds literally hundreds of rabbits. I took the dog out there a few weeks ago (not with ferrets) and it was total carnage. I counted at least twenty dead rabbits of varying rates of decomposure and didn't see a single healthy one running around. :search: This on land where you would normally see them in abundance. Mind you, the buzzards looked a bit overweight.......
  11. Blackbob, I live not too far at all from the area you are talking about and I'm aware of another massive mixi outbreak about 7 miles away.... i'm reassured by someone in the know that it's a natural occurence.....
  12. Cheers Millet, thanks for the info...
  13. I'd be very wary of feeding feral pigeons, and definitely would not feed rats. ever. I'm not a big fan of the 'chuck them a carcass and leave them to it' theory. Have you ever fed them any of the above to see if it kill's your ferret's or does any harm..? because ive been doing it for the past 20yr's now and never had one fall ill or die on me yet as a result of feeding the way i do.. and every body else i know does the same.. Millet P.s for obvious reason's you never feed stuff that has been poisened.. . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Millet, Even though I've kept fe

    ferrets

Apart from the issue of overworking the warrens (which you shouldn't do) which would certainly contribute to the lack of bunnies, there will be cases where you will try new areas that look occupied, but no-one is at home :search: In these cases, the weather could play a part or another predator e.g. a stoat could have flushed the occupants out before you got there....
  15. Definitely not! What if he comes across another predator e.g stoat, or even a rat? They can all be found in these places, needless to say if he was lost :search: Stick to feeding the ferret early and leaving it sleep in the box before reaching the hunting ground full of vigour. Works for me, and always use a locator....
  16. Nice shots Keeps the dogs are looking as keen as mustard...
  17. sorry to hear about the ferret Keeps, but on a positive note your young Plummers are doing the biz!
