  1. Thanks for the nice comments guys. No Richie Those beagles are used for tracking deer that run off a ways before they go down. They don't look to get much work. Cheers, Mark
  2. Just made this year's reservations for a hunt we've done for the past couple years. I bring Fishdaughter and my buddy brings his son for a whitetail, axis management doe hunt on a trophy ranch in S. TX. I really enjoy seeing the pics you lot post here so thought to share a few of mine: Cheers, Mark
  3. Bigger is better. I've got Remington 870s in 12 and 20 (the 20 is Fishdaughter's gun). The 20 is lighter and the felt recoil is a lot more than the 12. That sumbitch kicks like a mule! In my humble opinion, which ever make/model/bore you get, be sure that it has interchangable chokes...improved cylinder, modified and full. Cheers, Mark
  4. Stain When out practicing recall, you yell "COME STAIN"!
  5. Mark - Can you fit a mod with a tubular magazine? Just out of interest? Ta, Ric Ric, I have no idea. Moderators are very tightly regulated here (Federal license, background check, $200 fee, etc...) AND are illegal to use when hunting (the exception is non-game animals like predators and hogs). Cheers, Mark
  6. Stuff with fresh jalepeno and onion. Wrap with bacon. Grill. Serve with beer. Lots of it.

  8. Took you long enough didn't it? You Texans aren't very fast moving are you? Imagine what Grendel would make of that snake .... post up that pic of him eating one (And BTW when I first saw the video, I screamed ) Here's Grendel and his snakey snack. This (rat snake) was caught in my kitchen and would have met the same fate had Grendel (or Fishwife) got there first. Cheers, Mark
  9. Wench! (guess who is now registered on THL)
  10. Just to be complete, pump .22s have a high fun factor. I've got an old Remington 572 topped with an equally old cheap Tasco scope. Accuracy is about that of a semiauto. Bitch to clean. If I were to buy a .22 today, it would be a bolt action Marlin 981T. An advantage, in my eyes, is the tubular magazine. In contrast to detachable box mags, it has a larger capacity and cannot be misplaced. If they made it in stainless, it would be the perfect .22. Cheers, Mark
  11. You can't dismiss the fun factor! Although what is funner (excuse my colonial english ) is a lever action .22. Anyone who grew up watching 'The Rifleman' can appreciate this! I've shot the H&K MP5 in 9mm and .308 and was underwhelmed. The trigger pull and ergonomics just did not fit me. They have reputations of being excellent assault weapons, but I'm a hunter. Cheers, Mark
  12. Bolt actions are more accurate, mechanically reliable and easier to clean. They also prevent 'spray-and-pray' syndrome which affects many semiauto shooters. Cheers, Mark
  13. Full brim hats don't work well with hoodies. Cheers, Mark
  14. To blend it with the other wanker/posers. We call'em "Orvis Boys". The kind that show up on the river and looked like they just stepped out of the catalog. Every friggin fishing gadget invented and sold hanging off their vests. Make 15-20 false casts and the leader barely clears the tip guide. Last weekend, me and my fishingbud were shooting trap. There were a couple guys all Realtree cammoed-out. I'm talking hat, shirt, belt, pants, boots, shotguns, etc... Were probably wearing cammo thongs as well. I was wearing my Chuck Norris t-shirt, so they knew not to f- with us.

  16. Savage 24J - .22 mag over 20 ga. Best of both worlds!
  17. I like the utility of synthetic and the beauty of wood. Laminates are a sturdy and attractive intermediate. Cheers, Mark
