  1. yeah could very well be that, I guess I'll never know. I'll keep a close eye on the situation when I get another jill though just in case.
  2. Very nice pup there pal.....am I sensing a keenness for feather on those first two pics?
  3. Beauty! very nice dogs pal, and crackin pics!
  4. or drop them in the middle of a jungle with their arms tied behind their back....they might get an idea of what it would feel like then.
  5. my guess is you're being too noisy so the rabbits aren't bolting....fair enough they do kill underground but it shouldn't happen that often if you're quiet enough, more often than not they should bolt before he has chance. Set up quietly and then give it five minutes or so before you enter the ferrets. I can't believe someone would even contemplate using a muzzle to be honest!
  6. Dunno, maybe it's just coincidence then but there are definite bite marks on the back of the neck a couple of which have broken the skin. I haven't buried her yet so I'll have a look properly in a minute. She didn't look in pain when I had her on my knee last night, just flat out and non responsive. Maybe he was trying to drag her about to wake her up? I honestly don't know. I would have thought if he was trying to kill her he'd have finished the job wouldn't he? When I went to the hutch she was flat out at the front of the hutch and just lifted her head up, and he was bouncing around
  7. Don't know pal, got her from rescue centre about 4 years ago. She was quite old though I think because last month I had her out for short sessions (2 or 3 small warrens) 4 or 5 days in a week and by the end she was struggling, it wouldn't have been an issue for her previously. Her teeth had that sort of half transparent look about them aswell if you know what I mean, not fully white like they are when they're young.
  8. I neuter mine aswell bud, mainly because I'll never breed them. This one is only young though so I'm waiting til he's about a year old before I get him done.
  9. I don't think so, I've had hobs fighting with each other but I've never had a hob kill a jill before.
  10. proper gutted about this one pal, she made ferreting so easy cos once she cleared the warren she'd come and find me rather than the other way round It doesn't help that I lost my hob a couple of months ago literally just before the season started so the only one I've got left now is a newbie who I've not had out yet!
  11. Why get rid of him? Keep him seperate from other ferrets maybe. Thing is they were always fine together but he's a greedy git and is twice the size of her. She was an old ferret so I don't know if it's just the usual ferret rough and tumble and it's taken its toll on her or what? He's only about 7 months old and she's bossed him a bit since I got him a couple of months ago, maybe she tried doing it at the wrong time? who knows?
  12. Just been out to feed the ferrets and straight away noticed my jill face down in the hutch, I thought she was dead but she moved her head as I opened the hutch. Chucked the food in to get the hob out of the way and took her in the house. Noticed bite marks on the back of her neck.....it looks like the hob has given her a pasting, possibly dispute over a rabbit head I threw in before? Wrapped her up in my jumper and ready for a night on the couch sat up with her until the vets open in the morning..... ......and just looked down now and she's dead, absolutely gutted!!!! Proper pi
  13. Locked....cos I live in Wrexham and it's full of scrotes, mainly because you can't see or hear someone coming through front door from living room or kitchen. Also, when you have a 2 year old and you watch a lot of murder documentaries you tend to get a bit paranoid about these things! Plus, it gives you a few extra shut down and zip up seconds when someone comes home unexpectedly!!

  15. unless it's got saluki AND whippet in it, then they're bolloxed!
  16. it should be pushing up daisies then disagree with you bud.like i said my last lurcher bitch, was pretty bad.not towards kids or women, but strange men,she would have tore the face off you.took my mates a long time to gain her trust then she was fine, others she didnt take to at all.pts when she was 16 and if im honest i miss that dog lots.i never considered getting shot of her as i live and hunt alone, and it was only grown men she didnt like, and tbh they should know better than to go touch strange dogs.and she would have gave them plenty warning before she bit.however rob if i lived und
  17. not going to get into a silly argument pal but if I was a burgular and you had something I wanted, with a bat in hand I would fancy my chances.....put a GSD/Rottie or whatever in there and I'd look for an easier target, simple as that lad as trains mine was telling me the other day that scrotes are wise to yard dogs they wear a sleeve jump the fence and let the dog bite the sleeve then stick it with a knife game over for pooch no mater how good it was I would guess most would just find somewhere that doesn't have a guard dog though? they are simply at deterrent, as was said ear

  19. The bottom line is if you want a protection dog you wouldn't look at a dog that has either greyhound, whippet or saluki in it. If someone broke into my house all they'd need in their hand is a slipper and you wouldn't see her arse for dust (and she's got bull and wheaten in her)
