It is legal and I know of fellas that have been pulled by cops and uspca with hounds and dead fox they had no problem with it. Thing is they can throw the unnecessary pain and suffering to animals ( dogs ) one at you if your lurchers banged up and thats a total different ball game then. -
I was told by a fella a while back that if you flush a fox from cover into a hole then it's legal to dig it out. Though he said it was illegal to run about checking holes ????? I don't know what he's on about or if that is true because the same fella hasn't a notion !!!! Lol. Sure if that was the case how could the Feds prove you hadn't ran the fox to ground even if you did or not ???? All I know is it's legal to hunt fox so just work away mate. As said, make sure you have permission from the land owner.

Yeah mate I was having my doubts at one stage. Fortunately for me I'd two good lads with me to help me out. We all took turns and just kept at it. I was glad to get my hands on the old dog. Think I'll retire him this year. He owes me nothing he's 11 years old ffs and still going strong ha ha

Things must be bad when you've to resort to them lengths !!! I've no problem with a man buying a pup to rear and run on but to be buying dogs in all the time surely they're for sale for a reason and there's a fault in these dogs. That's why they're for sale !!!! If they were any good at all and maybe a man was packing the dogs in surely the lads he hunts with would want them or he'll know someone personally that would. You don't just buy a dog of Joe bloggs and expect it to be a wonderdog. 90% of the time anyway. If you do you definitely a few sarnies short of a picnic IMO. Lol

Thanks for all the replies lads much appreciated.. I had a good kip last night woke up this morning and my hands are aching bigtime. The lakelands bouncing around the pen !!! That dig must have took more out of me than it did him !!! i must be getting old. Lol

i went for a dig this morning with zebidee and dabigmc off here. first stop we tried is a tricky place it can run a brave distance and its in undergrowth that has obviously been used as a fill by a farmer many years ago. i know this because anytime im digging it im always coming across old building materials such as blocks and bricks etc on the way down, ive dug it over the years and its never straight forward, though its a good test for a terrier. i entered my lakeland just before 9am left him for a while to settle and got a mark at 2.0 on the box. started to dig and straight away we knew it

Might do for fishing alright not sure it would be a good idea to be marking locations if your doing terrier work !!! For obvious reasons.

Ha ha ha cracker. Here lumphammer your box must make a far louder noise than mine!! Have you ever considered pulling the voicebox out off your terriers incase someone hears them sounding away on a bank and draws attention to you ??? Ha ha pmsl

Yes strong stuffs right. Just a question here. Why is it that people don't like the noise of the box ?? I've no problem with it myself. If your digging your dog and there's movement underground straight away your indicated by the change in tone that the dog has moved position. Is that not the purpose of the tone? If so why would anyone mute it ?

Most off my dogs I have all brought on from pups. At the minute in my yard I've reared every dog in it from pup and have two younguns ready for next year. It's the only way. My mates have bought good dogs in but 90% of the time anything bought in is dort. Passed around and sold on so the peddlers don't loose out on £££. Breed your own you know what you have, run your pups on your way and that's the best way.....

He's talking about a shoot i.e an artificial run for the dog ! If you don't know what that is your safer af leaving yourself in the house as well as your dogs. Not all well breed pups enter without schooling by the way. I've seen loads of dogs that have entered first go and easily more again that wernt too keen to travel either. The fella that started the thread didn't state how well bred his dog is anyway. Hes just looking advice. Keep it that way. Before another decent thread will be ruined by a load of bitching. Yes I agree with fatman 100%....... The best advice is to make that the last time you drop him in short again. Next time your digging another dog out tie your pup up at the mouth of the entrance so he can hear the other dog working.. That should send him mad looking to run the holes. Maybe not the first time but it will pay off. Some do it quicker than others lad, just have a bit of patience, he's only a year old and id say still very green. Same as a child you have to crawl before you walk !!!! All the best with him bud.

Cracker mate!!! Seen a pike take a rat in our local park when I was very young. Scared the sh:t clean out off me. I must have stood staring at the water for a good 10 mins after in shock. Ha ha

Have the next door neighbours wired off also to be on the lookout and if anyone is seen snooping around give them a ring and a few off yous sabotage the c..ts teach them a wee lesson. good luck
