  2. no not under weight ive got a pup hes ok nice and chunky but my 2 saluki x's are hard to keep weight on,if you run them hard they look like a bag of bones one is 15 month the other is just over 2. it might be that everyone else seems to have bull type breeds and they make mine look skinny
  3. never seen this cross but can imagine they will be handy grafters

  6. my 3/4 grey 1/4 saluki caught a good few long ears never really missed many then when i took her out with another dog she watched it couse and miss one then when i give her the next slip she yapped but was just a little one so i knocked off the lamp and let it away, she was about 11month at the time i was p****d off when she done it but as she never done it again i put it down to frustration, although she has chased and caught alot since out in the open and never made a sound she did yap at one going through a thick wood once must of been frustrated again,im not to bothered though i do more lam
  7. Nice looking bitch, does it kill many.. cheers she s had a few the only thing i was lure coursing her at malton but after doing the live stuff the saluki in her said (ime not chasing that bloody bag again)shame i was starting to enjoy it ,still going in april though to watch .she will hunt up ,but is a point and shoot dog also, just like the saluki/ghds,does nt like the cold, rain ,even though she is kenneled outside.her retrieving is not the best, but she is very loyal ,meaning she would never be called in by a stranger, stick s to my side like glue, untill something gets up ,doesnt need a le
  8. Common in saluki and saluki crosses my mates dog is the same, but when its on quarry its a different dog, its covered in scars on its legs chest ears and face ONLY throu coursing going through hedges, jumping fences and the dog doesnt bat an eyelid, but if you were to stand on its foot or raise youre hand to it she would tremble or wimper, sensative mentality, extreme huntng instinct and preydrive. my two are wimps if you are to shout or smack there nose but out in the field there different dogs, although if they get bit they squeel like nothing else but still keep going
  9. Red for me. Here's a thread about filters that was on here a couple of weeks back. http://www.thehuntin...howtopic=130511 if you have a decent dog you wont need a filter.gods sake no wonder theres nothing around give them a chance to get away they sit there and wait for the dog to pick them up with the colour filters.weve had some big bags lately and never used a filter hahaha......have you ever heard of lamp-shy rabbits?? no matter how good ur dog is it wont come close to 1 mate haha i have, well if you chase them you should catch them (decent dog) then they
  10. should make handy dogs go for it if you fancy one i know a few people with saluki based lurchers they are all ok i have 3 dogs they each have 1/4 saluki in them they are ok although one of them can act strange and do as she pleases sometimes but all her +points make up for this but i got it at 8month old and never got to bond with her as a pup this maybe the problem

  16. the first time a dog bothers a sheep i believe it should get a good hiding then if they have a brain they will never do it again no matter if the chase deer or not, with all my dog they have chased a sheep the once as pups and the hiding has done the trick they wont even look at them now and they have chased deer when they have popped out infront of me.if any dog chases and bothers stock when it been trained not to deserves to be pts imo
  17. i have a saluki grey x bull grey dog pup 6 month old both his parents were first cross and were good workers im hoping my pup will be the same
  18. mine jumps anything day or night getting worrying because it keeps cutting its self in the dark too keen on some quarry
  19. any rabbit should overmatch a 5 half month old pup. purposly going lamping with a pup that age is a bit daft, you are running a dog that is still growing like mad, its bones and joints are not formed properly, if you dont sicken the dog you run risk of damaging it anyway could cut down how long it will work for later on in life, and then probably be passed around when its got trouble with its joints because its no good for running. I started my pup at 6 month old and he could catch rabbits. Im not talking about gold course rabbits i mean very easy rabbits on rough fields that would say
  20. my bitch used to do it up until she was 10month she would go out of the shed into the run do 1 them take it back in and eat it,was doing my head in but then she stopped it thank god
  21. aye i know marra it will be lagging behind haha
  22. he is now 23 1/2" getting there with retrieving and is jumping ok
  23. too many brains, ive a dog and when its out for a walk and it comes on to rain it runs off and i find it sitting in the bus shelter, and it has no collie, also it stalks and lifts out of seat and will not run a rabbit it knows it cant catch either too far away or close to dyke i like that because it wont waste energy on pointless runs but with long ears it will its as if it knows they cant get through the fence as easy i think its too clever for its own good sometimes Hi mate.Any dog with half a brain soon learns not to run a fence line oh does it ive never seen any other do it m

  25. take him on his own when he is ready to run them he will be frustrated when watching.stop it before it sticks,a friend of mines dog done it when watching as a pup and now at 2 it still does it if he goes lamping and other dogs chasing it yaps and barks, its no good doing it coz all the bunnies run away
