  1. Hi Scuba, I know it sounds a bit ott but was out on the fox & deer as well, but as you have pointed out there was not much left in the way of fur, better to use a smaller calibre. foxon.
  2. BSA choke there barrels at the breech for correct pellet fit & muzzle choke for the correct gas seal, on the BSA air rifles they bore out lengths of the muzzle to adjust power, take a look at the old Meteor I used to joke about this as quarter of the barrel had been bored out on some batches to keep the power down. foxon.
  3. We have a few Mink around the Okehampton side of Launceston in Cornwall, had shot these in the 100s back in the early 80s & 90s with shotgun or my 7.62 on the Chicken farms as they were takeing eggs & stock, but since 2000 onwards they seem to be more under control here, have shot them on odd occasions with .22 air rifle, but they are quite a sturdy critter so a shot in the head or behind the front legs works. I tend to leave them alone if they are in a remote area as there not enough for future sport where I am. foxon.
  4. Cheers fraggle, I know City Airweapons in Lincoln are tuneing Ultra's & FAC versions. foxon.
  5. Hi fraggle I can recomend a couple of good Gunsmiths, but I do not want to get kicked off the forum for touting my trade, I am an RFD & the Mods will be pretty mad, if you were down my way you can pop in my workshop & see some of the different Custom & Tuneing jobs I do, there is always one or two on the go. foxon.
  6. Sorry there fraggle did not word it very well, yes it's the Ulta Multi for that money & conversion. foxon.
  7. I know there are a few other Gunsmiths doing the conversions, costing £430 ish, both .177 & .22 have the same end to kill the prey in a humane manner, .177 have a flatter trajectory & the .22 has more impact energy useing it's mass over the smaller .177, but useing hollow points or flat paper paper punchers I doubt they would exit prey like Rabbit, but it all comes down to personal choice, I know I sell 85% more .22 to Hunters than .177. foxon.
  8. Found this on many occasions, come from a standard type of gun to one that's of a high standard & you then question what you have got, the Rapid will start working for you soon just give it time, Daystate owners get this syndrome when they trade their old AAs in. foxon.
  9. The BSA Ultra multi shot in .22 is a very pointable bit of kit, I build quite a few of these, removing the bad bit's, the one in the pic has just had my own improved reg returning 42 shots per fill @ 11.27 ftlbs, the volumetric has been stripped & my own baffles have been inserted allowing the carbine to remain a carbine & whisper quiet, have reworked the mag & indexing pawl so no jams, the trigger has been stripped & reworked giving a pro feel, you cannot knock them you can only make them better as for the multi task cocking procedure it's like rideing a bike, you never forget
  10. The FX is a first rate rifle straight from the old Logun factory in Sweden, well designed & engineered quality Lothar barrels, great service & parts backup from FX Webley UK. have sold 25 of these in 2 months with no come backs. foxon.
  11. Main Valve body has stuck open, cock & dry fire the rifle, if this did not work with bolt open tap the but on the ground hard otherwise strip & check to see if the strike area on the main valve has burred over due to hammer strike, common fault with HW100 but very easy to repair. foxon.
  12. Only thing with laser is the fact you are relying on the dot & not your true line of sight, so if you are not holding steady you will miss, I have seen many a farmer son working the laser around the feed store or milking shed & missing as many as he shot, you cannot beat realiable fixed iron sights at short range it encourages good hand eye coordinaton. foxon.
  13. If you want a good quality HP you will find H&Ns (Haendler & Natermann) in .22 will do the job without spin tumble or over penertration. foxon.
  14. Here are some pre VCR act pistols, still to be found as NOS in many RFD's, full power in .177 or .22 both calibres work well at short pistol ranges on Rats, but keep away from BBs they are far from accurate & not Humane. Top left Aim X, Right Dessert Eagle, Middle Berreta, Bottom Left Benjamin E9a in .20 calibre ideal for Rats. foxon.
  15. As you will know all air pistols must run under sub 6ftlbs to meet the Home Office Law, this is not a very Humane power for the dispatch of live prey, you would be better off useing an air rifle such as a carbine (short barrel) that can run at sub 12ftlbs twice the power, if this does not meet your needs & it has to be a pistol do not go for any of the imports as they all run well below sub 6 & more like 4.5ftlbs to protect themselves against are stringent VCR act & claims brought againt them, AIM X made by Brocock will be about the best there is, it's a pcp pistol with scope rail
  16. Well done Aron, it must of been worth the wait, knowing you have a light recoiler that will outshoot the old springer, looks like you have yourself a meal for one there. Atb foxon.
  17. I have a superb new in box UAG 3x9x40 ilum mil dot reticle compact scope, with coated lens & covers, cost £120 new, can post for £. Let me know, foxon.
  18. They are very good optics, I know they supply the US Government agentsies, have a lifetime guarantee, had a 3x9x50 on a Huntsman I bought, noticed it had good quality coated lens with good mill dots. foxon.
  19. Hi, this is the plastic coated stuff, you can get from any RFDs or ebay. foxon.
  20. hi realy nice gun mate, where did u get the paint job on the barrel thats smart. atb billy Hi Billbroon, This is only the sticky back stuff not that fancy American paint on, I did the whole conversion on a budget, but the desired finish is not bad, it's a bit fiddely but while the gun was striped it made it easier to wrap around the barrel, looks good when pokeing through hedgerow, I had enough left to do the cylinder but I thought it would be a bit ott foxon.
  21. Your right there Bedrock, the only thing is I am now on a new project, a Daystate LR90 in .22 single shot sub 12ftlbs, they eat air & not consitent enough, so with a bit of work I shall bring her upto date, I do like the early pcps afterall I feel they saved the airgun industry, if we were left with springers I doubt we would be on here now, we would be in our workshops thinking of ways to power our guns without oily springs & p-matics that crushed your fingers. Atb, foxon.
  22. Hi Bedrock, I am a Gunsmith, I do sell Firearms, but as not to break the rules with the Mods, I only use the site for my personal interest, it is nice to see what a great bunch of shooting members do on the Forum, there seems to be help at hand what ever the problem & shareing their experinces out in the field with fellow members, I have found the site very friendly & interesting. foxon.
  23. Cheers Rough Coated, put a lot of work in on her the kind that don't pay the bills or keep the Missus happy, but never mind she's awesome to shoot & that is the rifle & not the good Wife. foxon.
  24. Here is my HW100, not much of the original gun left, completely reported, my own reg fitted, improved main valve, uprated hammer & spring with friction free glide, recrowned & threaded barrel, my own scratch built silencer, Viper side wheel scope, bipod, Deben lamp, has taken me a week to build not including the trigger work & stock weight reduction, perfoms well at 60 yards in 1/4" groups, head shots on Pigeon Rabbit & Squirrel with no problem at 60s, tested on a calm day, chrono @ 11.49 ftlbs useing Accupells as I will run at sub 12ftlbs, but as you all know HW100s make for
