  1. ther is bound to be someone on her from your neck of the woods geordies love all that stuff been to bedlington a good few times how far from the dog track are you, also is the dog going to be a pup if so dont go starting it to early take it on a lead and let it watch other dogs working if you have some luck then let it mooch and do its own thing ,if you can try and let it start catching rats when it has got its adult teeth 5-7 months much better.have a look around must be plenty of farms were you are take a few trips out and ask for permission you never know.
  2. if they are the same as terriers mine works like a demon.

  5. bit of a problem have you tried walking away from her with back turned like your not to interested and dont shout at her when she crunches them is she young patience could be the key if she starts to bring it back keep walking see how you get on when she eventually starts to bring it back kneel down and put your hand out see how you go lets know how you get on,had my young lurcher retrieve a live grey squirrel to hand last week the squirrel wasnt too happy good luck anyway.

  11. out today with terriers and whippet took along 14 month old lurcher for her first real ratting session she has been out before on rats for the odd hour so this was more than the odd hour anyway she gave us a great day we got five rats and she got thre of them not bad considering you dont get many chances with the terriers and one grabbed her on the nose and she threw it in the air and grabbed it as it came down here is a few pics

  15. good piccies mate very different whats it like running the dog on the snow or is it more like ice do you have to be more careful of injuries.
  16. my friend has a coursing whippet off laguna lines, takes rabbits all day no probs out of the blocks there isnt anything faster and this dog is very fit out more or less every day however the stamina as said is not the best even in a dog as fit as him my lurcher bitch is 21" and she is medium build i would say she is more or less the same as him over distance when she opens up, however she can run more frequently than him she has beddie/whippet/grey/wheaton.
  17. yes its just as i thought walking in the park with lurcher and she potters off and comes back with a squiggel.
  18. a nice and intelligent looking pup with a little gleam in the eyes all the best for the training mate.
  19. does anyone know if its against the law to take greys with a running dog i know its ok to shoot the and its more or less open season on greys but would like some info thx gang.
  20. me myself i got my terrier mainly for rats and rabbits she marks them both very well but obviously doesnt catch many bunnies i also have her off the lead permanently when i am out on the land i have permission on she also works all cover and bushes very well doesnt mind being in the water if theres something to catch also the stock she comes from are very good on fox so may consider her this season as she is two but i will have to introduce her to these as she hasnt seen one before.
  21. she is a good age to start training on the lamp but i would say a bit young for running on lamp some say about 12-14 mths i go for latter when they are stronger.
  22. nice dog mate plenty of stamina good luck with her for the season.
  23. how old is the dog, is it broke to ferrets, has it seen what a lamp beam looks like of a night time first off if you start it on the lamp put out bits of titbits in diffrent areas in garden/yard put the beam on them so she starts to look whats in the beam then she will start to look whats in the beam and get curious this is a good way to train your dog to take out squatters good luck.
