  6. i run my dog every night i can in the season, practice makes perfect the more your out the better the dog will get as long as its bred right. you'll know when your dog has had to much it wont be so intrested in going ie not so keen so give it a night off or 2 and then try again.
  7. how much do you want to find out? if you are keen on having some racing pigeons, you would be best off finding someone in your area who keeps them and going to ask them. if you don't know anyone just keep yours eyes on the sky till you see some flying round, watch where they drop in to then just go and knock on the door and speak to the fella there who keeps them. i'm sure they'll be more than pleased to show you round there loft and answer any questions you have. i know because if anyone came to my dads place and asked about pigeons they'd struggle to get away. hope this helps cheers pp
  8. how old is your dog? if its only young then just persevre with always lamping it off a slip lead, after a while the dog will realise it only gets to catch when the light is on and is let of the slip so if it misses it wont bother hunting up it will just come straight back ready for the next rabbit. if its an older dog and theres lots of rabbits out then just keep lamping it and lamping it till all the rabbits are gone and the dog is f****d then it'll come back for a rest and will have hopefully learned a bit of sense and always come straight back after every run.
  9. i think you need a good mix of both for an alround dog ie catch what ever you put the light on and anything you see daytime. my bitch is good on rabbits can pick them up on the straight or out of a squat but a hare she has to run to death because she can turn and turn them but just dont have that extra boost to pick them up. so she's got the skill just lacks a little speed. very frustating to watch!
  10. nice one rew, i love it when they manage to catch them with out the light! my bitch quite often does it in the moonlight when just out for a walk, always a bonus to come home with an unexpected rabbit. bit of a coincidence but my bitch is called fly too! wierd. good luck for tonight pp
  11. nice one! had a touch of cabin fever meself yesterday, only stopped raining here for about 5 mins then changed to snow!! took the light but nothing was about. glad some one managed to have some fun!
