    at the end of the day i wouldnt worry about the travelling to get the right pup this pup will give you years of service i had a couple that made a 10 hr round trip twice to get pups of me and they are very happy. you cant go wrong with a good whippet strain or whipp/beddy as a ferreting dog.

    what about the bsa junior i started my lad on one of these cracking little guns and you should be able to pick one up for about £100 pound.

    friend used to have one in the 's a top rifle and he used to do very well with it.

    i have a small lurcher she does very well on ratting and my mate has a laguna whippet he does very well on them aswell they are just that bit quicker and obviously bigger and more agile.

    for that sort of money you could pick up a s410 with kit or maybe a rapid but you may have to get some bits for it.

    there is a big difference in price on these guns i had one in 177 with the 10 shot mag and it was deadly accurate but the stopping power was not as good as the 22, in the end i sold it and picked up the s410k in 22 well better and more shot count.

    just concentrate on her obedience training and as said as much rest as poss you may touch lucky and get the back end of the season with her but after putting in so much with her a few months will be nothing if she heals well and goes on to prove herself in the field also think how many years service she may give to you, all the very best of luck mate.

    all that kit and your offering him 400 quid i would say 500 quid is an absolute bargain especially with the bottle and case best of luck mate i have the 410k in 22 aswell.
