  1. That’s true and I wouldn’t command that sort of money outside my particular areas of experience either. I want that money just go back and visit the world and have to deal with the endless stream of bland ordinary fuckwits now days though mate ! Lol Edited to add: Dont get me wrong I’m very much of the attitude of you wouldn’t step over a £10 note either so if there is f**k all else to be earned I’ll earn the tenner but I know when and where that’s required if you get my drift
  2. On the odd occasion I may do a job now days I price myself in at between £80 to £100 an hour, it’s the right money these days mate
  3. A few years back I think it was calculated that in my old area you needed to earn £27 an hour to just get by, that’s just an ordinary ex council type semi and not too many frivolities !
  4. That’s 2 grand in your pocket mate, not before tax
  5. I’d say that’s 2 grand a week if you didn’t want to be maxed out all the time.....
  6. As I always tell my kids, it’s easy to be ordinary, that takes no effort whatsoever. What I mean by that is, and I’m always clear about this with them too, it don’t matter if you are the street sweeper or a Neuro Surgeon do what you do well because it all has value and just striving to not be a wanker will get you places.
  7. Unfortunately mate times change and it’s very hard to find quality people with a bit of a work ethic today imho. Its all this “everyone is entitled to a great job and £25000 a year from the get go” that has murdered things imho.....on one hand it’s nice that kids have choices rather than my generation who just wanted to get out and take whatever was in offer but in the other hand it’s done nothing for the quality within the pool of labour. We have definitely been “bred down” as a group of people, and before anyone groans that’s not a racial thing it’s a cultural thing imho In op
  8. This going to sound totally mental but if I ever got a new bloke and we were clearing a place I’d get them to sweep the floor !......you can learn bundles about people from just getting them to sweep the floor imho The quality of that simple, boring, stupid task will tell you very quickly all you need to know about someone. Sounds rediculous really but it’s true
  9. The one thing I don’t believe in is that remuneration equates with quality......pay should reflect quality not the other way round. The amount of lads who have ever said to me “well I didn’t do much because they didn’t pay me very much”......no, you didn’t do much because you are a wanker ! Lol Nobody is a total loss at £50 and a legend at £100......don’t work like that.
  10. I don’t think that’s true for all middle management mate, there are as many terrible directors and managers as there are workers. I think good people will always be good people, if you allow them to play to their strengths, identify their weaknesses, make a note of their character and match them with tasks accordingly. Make them feel valued, don’t forget to say “great job” and “Thank you”, get them invested mentally in what you are doing.....that’s our job as leaders of whatever project we are doing. You have to project the confidence of knowledge and be the unflappable rock
  11. Long Hot Summer: The story of The Style Council Hour and a half of pure f***ing class !
  12. I think Ben Shapiros “pencil” analogy is the best explanation for that mate ?
  13. The whole sorry mess and the antics of both sides just highlight what a terrible place we are all in politically.......this isn’t just a USA problem, this is very much European politics too. Name calling, spreading untruths, propaganda, smears, polarising people......it’s the sum result of the madness we have allowed and are continuing to allow and mandate every 5 f***ing years ! f**k, we are in some dark place and we keep voting for it
  14. Nothing was stopping the guy grafting starting the firm mate
  15. A film called “The secret scripture”......really enjoyed it
  16. The old boy who started Ahearns waste used to walk about in dirty old trousers, braces and boots. That same old boy booked himself and his wife the best cabin on the QE2.......I live for stuff like that. All the wealthiest blokes I know made their money in dirty jobs one way or the other ! Lol 30 years walking in and out of the same office every day for a wage that barely gets you by would be my idea of hell, f**k it, give me real people and feast and famine any day of the week.
  17. Oh I know that only too well mate !! Lol
  18. I’m sorry but I have to disagree, you just haven’t been paying attention because it didn’t effect you. And I’m not being funny trying to start a row with that response, it’s just the truth. As I have said many, many times.....everything matters, everything is connected. Most people didn’t give a shit before as much, much worse stuff has been happening but they give a shit about this......excuse me if I can’t take them people seriously.
  19. I never did that job but I knew a lot of men that did, I always took the view that if you were polite and friendly then you would get a response in the same manner. Most times you did, sometimes you didn’t but then there’s total pricks in every industry. Just my experience but I normally found that the polite, straight, not showy blokes were normally the real handy ones and the big old “look at me” types were the utter prats. Most of the decent lads just did it as a living and nothing more, making a few extra pennies, just out the boob, looking after the family or trying to get
  20. The trick is not to get a chip on your shoulder about it. Value yourself and what you do. You can’t legislate for stupid people.
  21. Spot on mate, there’s no shame in working no matter what it is ?
  22. I don’t want to get into a silly argument with you but that has absolutely been the case for years......like, 40 years or maybe more
  23. That’s why he isn’t picking up, he knows it’s you ! Lol ?
  24. I don’t see how you plan for this ? You can’t see the consequences so of course data is coming in about missed hospital appointments and lack of treatment for other conditions.....nobody knew all that was going to happen, we are only finding out now.
  25. I agree, that’s a bridge too far. It’s completely out of line imho
