  1. Gets down more holes than you might expect Tops.
  2. no expert no one works them up north where they came from, think a terrier with poodle and show whippet is best avoided, not saying your pals dogs arnt good, ive never seen one work in nearly 30years,they always looked to big for earthwork and not big enough to course rabbits, just my opinion, supposed to be good in lurchers, but to me there are far usefull breeds to use, hope i havent upset any bedlington owners, funbob I notice in your first post you said that you have never seen a Patterdale working. Now you are an expert on Bedlingtons. What kind of terrier do work at the moment Funbob?
  3. A lot has been said of Plummer, and I think he did end up believing his own propaganda. I met him a few times, depending on what day you caught him on, you got a different bloke. One time I had a chat with him, he was polite and glad to chat to us (then) young lads. On other occasions he was an egotistical arsehole. However. The Fell Terrier book is in my eyes a masterpiece, and a seminal piece of work. Never again will such a book be written.

  9. I'm sure some of you have read this before , but for those who haven't, read and enjoy some of the antics of one of the all time greats Mr Frank Buck. John told of an incident when Frank and Mr. Breay were coming down off the fell after a day out with the terriers. As they reached the road a gang of workmen were laying tarmac and chippings on the road and there, perched on the tar wagon, was a monkey. As they passed by the foreman of the gang began a conversation with the men for he had noticed the working terriers “Workers are they? Are they any good?†“Oh aye, they are goo
  10. I'm not convinced the cross gives you anything a good working or racing Whippet hasn't got. But some of them don't half look good and they make a decent little ferreting companion. Here's an old pic of one doing a job.
  11. He looks a tidy dog Lawrence, and a nice wee size .............. if he's standing next to a Whippet. If the black and white dog is a Greyhound, I retract that statement.
  12. A few pics from last season of Spike. And a few recent ones of him and Poppy my Beddy/Fell. (foxes are dead i pics) and were killed for the protection of gamebirds in accordance with the hunting act.
