Couldn't agree with you more PIKEYLAMPER..at the end of the day whatever an owners chosen quarry is "there's lurchers and there's LURCHER'S" lol..and that go's for foxing, hare coursing, rabbiting, lamping and so on?.ATB Andy.

These topics are just "lighter fuel" for an heated argument imo? Collie/Grey,Bull/Grey,Saluki/Grey,Deerhound/Grey...some do and some don't take em but the common denominator in them all is the humble Greyhound...trained them for many a year so am talking from experience here and i'd hazard a guess and say 85% of ALL Grey's would demolish a fox in seconds..so if you have an 1/2 cross with any of the aforementioned inc Bedlington Etc: then you'll have an above average chance of your dog taking a fox imho? Once you start diluting the Grey blood then the probability in the norm will decrease. ATB

Very sad news..in tragic circumstances and all over a few bunnies? Permission or poaching who really gives a feck?...they were only after a few bunnies and likes been said a fellow hunter at the end of the day and more importantly a big loss to his partner and his family..R.I.P Ross matey.

Well done guys, keeps the hounds right and it's much better to be out and about than sitting in the house on the pc or watching big brother .Keep at em.ATB Andy.

Only time will tell if the dog makes the grade we hope he can? He has done all we have asked of him SO far but he has to improve vastly in one or two departments yet! I am of the opinion no matter what he does in the field he'll produce decent pups (ugly though) lol...quite possibly superior to him and his litter mates? With having four lads all dog daft you always have to think ahead in this game.ATB Andy.

For what my advice is worth,i'd defo have the toe removed,an outside toe isn't a problem to lose, middle toes are the ones that can cause a dog to be always lame after removal,7 weeks will be more than enough to start running the dog again especially after the removal of an outside toe..honestly 4-6 weeks and you could be back at it matey? ATB Andy.

Like i said Dotty he's nowt but an ugly cur lol,no fancy style of running,he is what he is but i have pretty high hopes of the dog? Hopefully we'll have a few posts to put up with him over the coming months/years? Thanks folks. ATB Andy. The Don dog
-
He seems brand new thanks for asking Dotty...all being well this next blackweek we'll see what he's capable of if we can get amongst some gear and the weather is favourable to us? Like i said he's no world beater and certainly no looker but i'm hopeful he'll put some gear to bed these next few months lol. Cheers Andy. what age is he now? is this his 2nd season? or his 1st proper season?? It's his 2nd full season Dotty,he started away last term fine then cracked a bone in his hind leg jumping a metal railing fence,we then got that frost and snow for nigh on 15 weeks solid a

I think the dam ain't upto much Lee but apparantly the sire ain't too bad or t'other way round maybe? haha

That old dog Johnny was lurcher x collie and Don is also lurcher x collie, the lurcher in Don was a son of the old red dog, there was only the red dog from his litter that i knew of that even caught a rabbit lol but he made up for the remainder haha, the way they are bred Johnny (lurcher x collie) there is always going to be litter wastage..it's a very chancy breeding but if you are lucky you may get something half decent? It's selecting the right one thats the problem though haha? The old dog threw a mixture of types but he covered all varients of bitches over the years whereas Don has covered j

There is only Don and one of his sisters over here in the UK matey, the remainder are over in Ireland, one never got to see a rabbit,it was crazy but is still alive with my mates brother and used as a guard dog on a small holding, great with his own kids but i'd say it's a ticking time bomb? My mate who bred the litter and his other brothers have the remainder and they are doing very well, one small black bitch is making quite a name for itself for it's rabbiting and hare exploits over there and also would you believe it for it's quota of DAYTIME hare catches lol. They all seem to have a liking for

Here you go Tomo...from little acorns mighty oak trees will grow lol...and then nine weeks later there was Venus lol ATB Andy.

Any dog can pull up if its pushed too far. Would totally agree with that Inan .ATB Andy.

Thanks Johnny ..like you say it's no good having a dog that DOESN'T suit the type of land you hunt yourself, horses for courses is what springs to mind lol. ATB fella have a good un yourself. Cheers Andy. Grandfather of Don (1/2 Collie) another ugly dog but the best i've had and ever likely to

I'll answer this for you mate as the lads busy at the minute feeding the dogs,Don can handle rough ground no problemo but he's a very keen dog especially early on in the night and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if one of these nights he has to be carried off on his shield so to speak! He defo wouldn't be the quickest dog but he ain't that slow infact in over 30 years of keeping lurchers he's caught more in the day then the rest of my lurchers put together lol, caught loads of bunnies during the day and even a good tally of big fellas in the day on open ground and in woodland even where it

Funny as this seems but nowadays i always wear old trackies for lamping, lightweight, don't weigh you down when they are soaked, dry quick too,far better then being weighed down by a pair of double lined soaked camo pants...it's the way to go i'll tell you haha .ATB Andy.
-
Good stuff matey.."you can only get out of a dog what you put into it" ATB Andy.
-
Good to see the bunnies all paraded correctly lol..Venus seems to be carrying plenty of condition Tomo..she needs more graft .ATB Andy.
-
A decent night considering: full moon,1st run since injury and the terrain...i was happy enough with the dog and he seems injury free which is the main thing? Better hauls await of that i can GUARANTEE!!! Onwards and upwards and i think it's about time you let the old man take over the training/feeding and let's see what these mutts can do? haha
-
Basically because alot of the day dogs wouldnt be suited to rabbiting though Lazybstard surely? Not all but a high percentage? ATB Andy.
-
It won't put em on for you mate haha ,you've got to do it thy sel lol
-
Haha,i suppose you'll be starting December then Moondog when the frost and snow is here and when owld long lugs is at it's peak will you? How do you guys get your dogs so fit when you won't run anything with them until the dead of winter? Genuine question and i'd be intrigued to get an honest answer or two off the daytime lads? ATB Andy.

Great result Tomo & Co,glad to see the dogs ran well despite one or two setbacks including that darn moon lol.Well done guys .ATB Andy.
