  1. I suffer really badly with cold hands and so far im yet to find any gloves that will keep them warm, but still allow me to use the shotgun. Seems if you want to keep a good grip and feel on the gun, you cant have warm hands. But the gloves i need to keep my hands warm make it hard to use the gun well. ANy suggestions anyone? I was pigeon shooting today in the gloves im using at the moment and i could barely take the safety catch off!
  2. Cheers mate Shes quite big for a cocker, maybe the same size as a small springer i suppose. But my lab is small so it makes her look bigger than she actually is i think.
  3. Nice one. Looks a good kennel. What dog have you got going in it?
  4. I use one when out lamping and i've managed to call some in really close with it.
  5. Looks a strong dog you have there ATB
  6. They must have been feeding on pushed over cover crop. I do know what maize is
  7. Well my pup is now 8 months and thought id drive the 2 hours to the beach for a change of scenery. She loved it as all dogs do obviously. Really pleased with her progress so far and she now seems to be getting to a point where shes taking in the trainings well so im starting to do more with her. (I was enjoying myself, im just not really one for smiling in photos ;-) ) Cheers for looking
  8. Gutted a load of partridges tonight and the crops were full of maize
  9. Dont get a shogun or pajero if you want fuel economy
  10. Yeah they are great on the road compared to other mud tyres iv had. And yeah the price is the downside, but they are a quality tyre. I think i got mine from John Craddock landrover supplies. Just happened to be looking on their website and they had some at a good price in the size i wanted so I ordered them there and then. But that was after about 3 evenings of trawling the net looking for tyres.
  11. Iv got cooper stt mud terrains and theyre fine on the road.
  12. a reasonable priced tyres i use are general grabber(named after my wife) AT2 .quiet on road and good in snow. What he said. My old man has them on his paj and theyre good for an a/t tyre
  13. Wasnt the engine still under warranty?
  14. I do like the swb because of its manouverability and i have to back a trailer round a tight bend in yard which is a lot harder to do in my dads lwb. But iv got two dogs and im considering a lwb for myself because with the dog cage in mine, cant get much else in sadly.
  15. Im loving my Pajero at the moment. You get good and bad examples of any make or model of car/truck so you'll always have someone with a tale of how awful they are. The 2.8tdi is a better engine (chain not belt, more torque, less prone to gaskets) than the 2.5 diesel. Although as said, very juicy A common fault on the 2.8 is the fuel pump seal going causing bad starting and smokey. Had to do mine a month ago. The seal is couple of quid, but its a pain in the ass of a job to be honest. But I do like the look of the pajero better than a shogun and the paj has more toys in it i believe.
  16. your forgetting that a bad driver could get a tank stuck on a football pitch Mr T?
  17. Ok il take a look cheers mate
  18. Its interesting you mention hypoglycemia as one of my friends springers has suffered from this. We were out workingit hard one day and it started fitting or so we thought. Turns out it was hyperglycemia. Dont know much about it at all but does anyone know if its a hereditary problem? The vet told him just to change his dog food.
  19. The trouble is, some people on small shoots that have been doing the same things every year for donkeys years can sometimes not want to change things for fear of making it worse. But i say its worth for the chance it makes things better.
  20. good topic this. Like hearing how other people do things. We have a bit of noise, bit too much imo and im going to try sort that out. But i make them all carry flags in case i need them to try round up the partridges in the right direction. Trouble is on our smallish shoot, my best mate is the boss and once he likes doing something one way its hard to get him to change something. But i keep at him till he does
  21. If youve already got 5 dogs and not enough time to work him, why did you get it in the first place?
  22. Guess it didnt suit his 'needs'
