My first cross beddy whippet is 22" and easily the best rabbiting dog I've owned. Amazing nose, nippy as hell with bolters and game as can be - she did a 3/4 grown cub a few months back on her own (couldn't get her to let the damned thing go! :realmad: ) The only faults I've found are: A) When she's hunting something, f*ck what I say - she's hunting! and she'll be back once she's done, thank you very much (bit of a pisser when ya need her back rapido :ph34r: :whistle: ) When lamping, she has a tendency to keep her nose to the ground rather than look down the beam, but as this is her fi

Just back in, ran 3 hares, caught 2 and a run at a couple o deer. My mates bullx ran the first and second hares and mine was pulling my arm outta the socket, so let her have a go on the third. It was also the first time she's jumped barbed wire at night - had my heart in my mouth . No need to worry - 28" = BOIIIINNG! All in all, not a bad wee walk.

Going out lamping tonight with a mate and came upon a dilema - going to some good ground, so do I take my trusty 7yr old, who I can rely on 100% or, take my big deerhound x pup to get her more experience? I s'pose it's a common problem when bringing on a young dog. You want to feel good when your dog does a good run, great pick up and perfect retrieve - or let the pup fluff a few and get a red face ? Sod it! No choice. Get the young dog some experience and hope that she benefits from the night. Here's hoping

Your having laugh :11: mate if you think a deerhound or D cross could live with a saluki or S cross on hare.I have a video of a deerhound x running against a saluki x , the deerhound led for a bit and then the saluki x took over and killed the hare after anther couple of minutes, the deerhound x was left far far behind. And I've seen plenty of live courses with D x's and S x's to no which is the better. What you have to remember is a lot of salukis or saluki cross will let another dog kill its self trying unsuccessfully to catch a hare and then take over , they arent stupid they know how t
