Does anyone else like a bet on the nags? There's a cracking card at Cheltenham today
  5. If you know of bullshitters then you should let Gnasher know, shouldn't you? Speaking personally, I'd appreciate a quiet word if someone knew of any cowboys to avoid in my chosen breed.
  6. Cheers lads. I was going to delete this question yesterday before anyone answered it as I realised I'm asking the impossible. Kiwi what I'd ideally want is a lurcher that will take fox/bunny as that's my thing if you know what I mean, but I want a dog that will hunt for pig too. I know my mates out in Qld and NSW break their dogs to everything but pig, which is the reason I thought about deleting the question. Is it an impossible ask for a dog that will work bunny by sight and hunt up on charlie and pig? I won't be using a gun. I can see myself getting a heap of dogs at this rate as th
  7. Lads, someone once accused me of putting a photo up of a fox that they claimed I hadn't killed with my dogs and I've got to say it ain't nice being doubted like that. The problem I had was that my terrier killed this fox on top on a foot path (on permission) when someone was taking their Sunday morning stroll. The old dear was like "your dogs have got something there" By the time I got rid of the civvy and dragged the terrier plus fox away to some seclusion, the fox was stiffening up. The piccy I took for this board looks like it's not a fresh kill as the legs were beginning to lock up.....m
  8. Doesn't everyone do that then? :11: :11: Might give that one a miss then Phil
  9. I think Gnasher was making a joke
  10. Righto lads...I've got a type of dog in mind that I want for when I get to Australia but I wondered what type you guys would go for. I am going to be hunting pigs, but I wouldn't mind something with a bit of pick-up for foxes and maybe the odd hare/bunny every now and then. The country I will be hunting/living is lots of gullies and ravines, on the side of a mountain with the usual cover of brambles etc. although I won't be hunting there exclusively. Any ideas?
  11. These were mine. I flogged the TX to a lad off here and the others were given to my young cousins as they'd shown an interest in rifles. This is the first time in over 20 years I haven't had an air rifle!

  13. I've never seen the word "rather" used so many times as an adverb on this site! Oh yeah Sam, if you ain't got any gamebirds to protect then stick to the rats and bunnies
  14. Not sure what you are asking there Sambo....are you asking how to get more permission? If you're asking about how to find earths, then there's no simple answer. Foxes live everywhere and earths crop up all over the place. I even had one in my garden a few years back. Ash tips are a good place to look as it's easy digging for charlie. There's one on my old land that comes back every year and digs a new earth in the ash. I've got to say, you're probably the most eloquent 16 year old I've ever read on here. Do you go to Eton?
  15. Don't buy it then. Seems in line with what other books have sold for recently.
  16. For food, rabbits mainly mate. They do all get together and run foxes and these badger-type things but it's like a hunt to the guns.
  17. I've not long come back from China. I tell you what, they are among the most hospitable people I have ever met, anywhere. I was staying in what was called a village in the Anhui province, but it was really just a few houses dotted around a hillside. They lived off their land, grew their rice, bred their chucks and kept a few ponds for their carp. They had some hunting dogs which I spent some time with and they ranged from looking like Lancashire Heelers at one end of the spectrum, through to what you'd swear were collie/greys and then up to Spitz types. I was sat out on the yard with the fowl
  18. How old a dog is or isn't is the not the criteria to breed. A dog should be bred if it is good enough at it's work and this cannot be determined if it's 6 month old, or 18 month old.
  19. Nice dogs mate. Do you do anything with them? :11:
