  1. How much would a collar cost to buy without the whole set up ?
  2. Personally i think if you take it steady the pup & ferrets will come to a mutual respect,
  3. I did think the same Frank, I only have my big Hobs in there, but my Jills have been in there for a day and they didnt escape. I am going to change the front anyway soon, That was all I had avalible at the time really and I needed it quick as I picked up my new ferrets that same day lol. Thanks for the advice, Josh A few yrs ago i had a jill escape from a cat carrier in the car, she managed to squeeze her head through the tiny square grille on the front of the carrier, so i had to carry her the rest of the way as she did it twice
  4. Hope your on the mend, my bloke was in a crash in august & spent a week in hospital so i know how you must feel, ferrets ears have no idea to be honest , sorry cant help there
  5. Thats a good age for a ferret, he was worth his weight in gold keeping your jills healthy, happy hunting old man
  6. I used to feed mine chicks but noticed they all had coughs and used to cough up bits of the yellow down fur stuff, so i stopped feeding them
  7. There are lots of things that could be the cause of a ferret loosing its coat to the degree the origonal poster described, all i have done is put up a link , its not to say this jill has adrenal , she could be thinning as she is an elderly ferret, but its worth exploring as many options as possible, If i have offened anyone by putting a link up then sorry,

  9. I cant believe the attitude of some people, if you value your ferret you pay the going rate & instead of posting on here get it to the vets, the only way to make vets ferret friendly is for people to take there ferrets to them in the first place, everything cost a fortune not just the vets bills. Vets charge what they charge , garages charge what they charge its life, idealy i would be a qualified electrition, plummer, vet, mechanic, but as i am not any of them i pay for there services when i need them So do the right thing & see a vet
  10. Mines not crap with ferrets & why keep any animal if your going to crib about paying the bills
  11. did any of the ferrets have any clinical signs , say a week or so before or did you notice anything that didnt seen quite right in there behaviour prior to the going down ?
  12. To find out for sure if your worried about other stock get a PM done if any others die suddenly
  13. Is it ferret food your feeding or cat biscuits ?
  14. They scare the life out of you when they do that, its called dead sleep
  15. In real simple terms, you cant intentionally hunt anything with dogs legally, except rabbits and rats......... cos obviously rabbits and rats dont have any value of life........ so another silly question when i had a lurcher he would hunt my other dog and bring her to the ground , a smallish terrier so where would that stand in the law now, thats why i had to walk them seperatly in the end
  16. will you do me a huge favour then & list do's & donts in simple terms for me, not into working dogs but i think its bloody stupid this law thing, if you dont mind
  17. Scuse me for being ignorant, so if my dog killed a mouse on my property it would be breaking the law

  20. Well i have just spent 10 quid on possibly the best album ever in my opinion , ''Johnny cash American V a hundred highways'' its heart wrenching, & very moving, brilliant, stunning peice of work
  21. Thanks for all the usefull tips. i will give it a go & hope i dont yank the rabbits head off :11: all i need now is a locator & permission, thats easier said than done I will set about asking the local farmer as a starting point
  22. So you really think its possible , as in you dont have to be really strong to do it i am not a girlie woman at the best of times but i did worry that it may physically hard to do it, thanks for the encouragment All i really want is a couple of rabbits each visit, just enough to feed the ferrets & a day in the peace & quiet
  23. Untill i got my new hob kits this yr i had a couple of old lads who i lost earlier this yr, due to them being old they had not worked for about 2 yrs, i accompanied my husband on many ferreting trips , set nets & generally just helped out. But i would like to start ferreting, my husband isnt really interested , i have some nets , but will need to geta locator & a couple of collars, but the one big hurdle i need to get over is to dispatch a rabbit quickly & properly, is it physically hard & could i do it, i am not scared to do it, but am scared i wont do it properly & th
