I have used the fine sawdust in the past & didn't have any problems with it .. but i found the soft shavings better as the sawdust just seemed to blow everywhere

Just purely out of interest all you claiming to have dogs or seen others dogs pull down a red stag .. what time of year would you say is the best time to attempt it ? genuine question not hidden agenda I am just interested in finding out the timing which you have attempted it

i find red deer up here on the whole unpredictable .. hinds especially i have never spoken about something i saw last year mid summer before.. but i witnessed a chap walking a staffy off the lead & a small group of 4 hinds appeared from nowhere .. something there good at & on occasion i have been cornered my self out walking & its scary Going back to the staffy .. it ran towards the group & one of the hinds got stuck into the dog killing it with its feet.. the dog made no attempt to fight back .. it went limp & was rolled round the floor like a ball .. it was very qui

well whatever you make will have to be 100 % secure the only type construction i can think of is a wooden frame & weld meshed sides & top that could be screwed rather than nailed so it can be flattened but in reality you really cant leave them coped in a hutch for weeks at a time .. they need a lot of interesting things to explore & unless you have the mother off all hutches you do need to let them out for a run round

They really need to come out of a hutch daily they will go stir crazy cooped up 24/7 .. all you need to do is get an enclosed run & allow them to run off there excess energy :thumbs:
