Nobody is begging anybody to stay, if they make their decision to leave then I'll want them gone. Fact is, that decision hasn't been made yet......
-
Fingers crossed eh........ the motto of YES!
-
lets see how they vote, alot has changed on recent months Bit late by then though isn't it? But that's been the recurring tactical response of team YES all along........ "all these people with control over our future are lying to us, you wait and see". LOL LOL. You're taking a big gamble and you know it.

Just to point out, Shetland and Orkneys have a rightful claim to nearly 70% of that. So if they leave you will loose 10% of your GDP straight away. But 10% is neither here nor there eh. LOL. I'd also guess that the percentage of GDP that oil represents will increase in years to comes as it becomes more expensive to recover. thats a debate for another, time will tell... a new/better scotland or a broken union... you can try pull out all the negative stuff you like, i thought by now, no another others would realise it doesnt work i was going to edit post above: scotland has 1 % popu

LOL, so it turns out that Salmond has compared the vote to South Africas vote that ended Apartheid........ I'd be f***ing embarassed to be associated with the weasle!

Congratulations Tomo. Wishing all your family the very best.

For a start I haven't ridiculed creation, but I'm pretty sure you weren't talking about me. Creation is of course a possibility though with nothing I've seen to support it. Some people have miss represented science and used it to ridicule religion, you've taken that somewhat personally and I get that, it wasn't fair. However I wasn't one of those people so when I see someone making a joke out of science like the mainstream theories have no more validity than any human belief I also take it personally. I agree with you that it requires a degree of faith to believe in a scientific theory. Bu

It's a miracle really that we managed to calculate the time differences in satellite data transmission based on the theory of how and why time slows down for fast moving objects when we just picked the idea out of a hat and ran with it. Blind faith eh?
-
So if we dont like options a,b and c..... we can call option d a fact because we like that more than the others........and thats not blind faith ....i love it ......if only life was actually like that ! I didn't say that, I was explaining why some people are miss lead in what they term facts. But you crack on trivialising mainstream science as "what people like", lol. Science isn't a mindless popularity contest. Like I said, ridicule all of science, evolution isn't unique in how it has become mainstream. I guess gravity is caused by the strong arm of invisible gnomes pulling? Equally credibl

The Scandinavian progeny of the Shetlands/Orkney have made their feelings clear already. They have no wish to be part of an indepedant Scotland. The two options on the table are joining their cultural and genetic cousins in Norway or repatriating with the UK, which has served them well up to now. I believe negotiations at the highest level have already taken place to this end.
-
Another fact, yes it does. It's just not solely dependant on oil. And another fact, we all know that.
-
It's alright, no need. We'll run cross border raids and just take what we want. You'll not have much say in the matter having no defence. LOL. Failing that if things get really hard up I'll move to Shetland and benefit from their huge oil wealth. Once they have repatriated with the UK that is. Oh....so Shetland can do it just on oil then but Scotland can't with oil and all the rest. Interesting.... Noooo, that's not what's being proposed. Shetland and Orkney don't want to be Scottish by nationality, they want to remain part of the UK. Though they may potentialy join Norway. If Sc

Thank f**k there's not a vote for the whole of the UK becuase you'd be fecking gone, like it or not. LOL. Most English are sick to death of hearing how hard done to you Scots are by us. I've said it already, this vote has brought out the worst in all of us in this Union. It's disgusting. Atleast your showing a bit of patriotism my English friend. First time I think I've seen you rant a little. I don't want you lot to go........... I'll miss my monthly Scottish tax benefit.

Science fact is something that has been observed, like an apple falling from a tree. Evolution in the sense that biological populations are capable of adapting their genetics to better suit an environment is also a scientific fact which has been observed. The Theory of Evolution in the sense that all life on Earth has evolved from the most simple organism is a theory, not a fact. We did not observe this entire event so cannot treat it as fact. The reason it's treated by many as a fact is because it holds superior credibility to other ideas because logical predictions have been made from it and

Nothing should be untouchable mate..... we're both philisophers Wilf, we just walk slightly different paths.
-
Yes, that's why I left. LOL LOL
-
There are also huge chunks of it highly probable bullshit. But I'm out of my depth talking about the bible, so I wont. Wilf, I really don't want to go down this path mate. You believe in creation, I don't. I don't think any worse of you for it, I'm not one that will mock a theist. You don't try to twist science, you just draw different conclusions from what you are presented with. I'm fecking off before this turns crazy.

Some scientists will be biased, they're human in the end, they'll have an idea and stubbornly stick to it. But for me the most fundamental aspect of the scientific mind is challenging the status quo, questioning what is not questioned. Intelligence is secondary to that. Objectivity is so often quoted, it's the cornerstone of science! So I'd say it is a level playing field if allowed to progress freely, unhindered by the biased politics and emotions of man.
-
I'm not very clever either but I try to fight the corner best I can and try to remain objective and keep humility to do that. Well I can't ever prove that that happened, I can just progressively increase the probability of that being the correct sequence of events. The mechanism has been proven, the predictions are being proven..... That gives the theory greater and greater credibility. That doesn't mean that we might one day find an alien civilisation that has used us as one massive biology experiment and created engineered species continuously, each time trying a new improved version, gi
-
No that's not true at all Wilf, I've told you a hypothesis is formed from observations (like flat earth or relitivity or gravity or evolution), then predictions are made that can be searched for to validate the hypothesis. This has been done for all mainstream science. Flat earth falls over straight away with this modern scientific methodology, evolution, like gravity and relitivity hasn't. I've told you, all theories could be proven wrong tomorrow with a single observation. But the chance of that happening diminishes with more predictions that are proven. You're telling me it takes as much fa
-
Define evolution exactly? Do you want me to prove that all life on earth evolved from one common ancester? Because that's impossible, I could prove that the mechanism is possible, but I can't prove that that is what happened as I don't have a time machine. But that stands for all science, I can prove that the Universe is expanding as I can observe that but I cannot prove that it started with a big bang. However predictions made based on those theories when found give the theory greater credibility. That's how all of science works. If you rubbish evolution then you might as well rubbish every t
-
You can say that about any branch, level, theory in science. The more you test it the more credibility is gains...... Flat Earth fell over at the first hurdle. Stand at the coast, look out to sea and tell me why you can't see the end of the world? Flat Earth can't make a single unique prediction that could give it credibility. By modern scientific standards it could never be considered science. I take your point, what we believe now can be proven, in simple terms, wrong with a single observation. But lets not pretend that all scientific 'beliefs' have equal credibility. If you're going to
