  1. Depends how simplisticly you look at politics as we discussed on your thread mate. If I was childish I could have gone in for the counter "your a nazi" but I'm trying to keep the level of debate above that. Cheers anyway. A few folks can see me for what I am. When those on the left think you're far right and those on the right think you're far left then you've made progress!
  2. Again, you monumentally misunderstand where I am. You've spent too long hating the Tories to see what I write objectively. I'm not kicking this rock any longer fella.
  3. Was this fella aligned with the alt right too? You really fail to understand certain freedoms and rights that are considered fundamental in liberal democracy. Lets not do the gun debate fella, that won't be an easy ride for you.
  4. Literally NOBODY has said she doesn't deserve punishing for those crimes. She was prosecuted for a crime that carries the option of a life sentence and rightly so.
  5. Mate if you think the value of liberty is 'alt right' then yeah I can see why 'academic' arguments don't impress you, you completely misunderstand them! Alt right ffs At best Tea party! The alt right would shit themselves if a classical liberal was in power. Sexual freedoms, religious freedom, recreational drugs, free speech all round etc etc. Yep completely diverge on that view. Even disagree on what you think my view is there. You always have choices. But granted at the bottom of the social spectrum you have less tools and priveledge to educate you as to good choices. H
  6. Even if the smoking and smacking law examples did change social views, what's the social view on emotionally manipulating a partner or family member that needs changing? Folk already think it's a c**ts trick!
  7. No, it's been a fantastic way of forcing a non smoking lifestyle on everyone else because 'we' have decided that non smokers arent capable of dealing with the responsibility of just avoiding smoking establishments. I don't think either of those examples have influenced societal views. Education has if anything. I suppose the hunting act has turned folks away from hunting? Ideologically I don't accept that mentally sound adults are not responsible for their own lives. I could accept a law that is based on that if it was effective at protecting victims, which I'm struggling to see this one
  8. It is outrageous. But in the UK its exactly what I'd do anyway and in fact said pages back. In Texas/Wyoming/Idaho/Alaska/Utah the fuckers would meet a neighbourhood watch malitia of 223 fire.
  9. I agree it'll now be a crime by definition. I don't think it'll be changing social views so much. Surely the vast majority of society already consider it imorral to manipulate a person through emotional blackmail. Control through threat of violence, implied or explicit, already being illegal of course. So the argument is that it'll change social views and therefore prevent such behaviour from occurring? We'll see I guess. One thing I don't need to wait for is to see if itll be repealed if found to have no effect.
  10. That term should probably be considered abusive ffs! f***ing brilliant, I'll be using that! ...no not on my sex doll before anyone says it! Cruel piss taking fuckers.
  11. Sorry fella, you're right. I can't remember where I got that from, be some tiny insignificant niche stat, maybe something to do with reported cases. Anyway, like I said, gender shouldn't really factor into this. A victim is a victim.
  12. Pretty sure domestic abuse is most commonly against men in fact. I might be wrong about that. I'm really not considering gender here. It shouldn't matter.
  13. Totally agree. As I have said, people with a disability that renders them vulnerable in society should be protected and usually are.
  14. I suppose you won't believe me but I accept all that. It's no revelation, despite me "clearly never been in a controlling relationship". How does this law help with any of that? If you or I were in that situation now where we feel we can't leave, why would we initiate or at least support a criminal investigation? How does this law help anyone? Surely you either have the strength to change your fate or you don't? I'd have no issue with schemes being funded to give people the tools to make that choice easier. Does this law do that?
  15. First off mate, good post. Genuinely. It's personal by nature. It's personal because you are asking personal questions, not general or specific to my argument. It doesn't challenge my position, it just challenges my credibility. Anyway... Okay, so in response to your original point of essentially 'do I actually understand that the police aren't judge and jury'. Yes I do, I understand that the system has checks and balances. That's not my problem. My problem isn't the system, law enforcement or justice, it's the legislation and the precedent it sets/reinforces. That's f
  16. It might just be the angle but she looks to have thrown well to the whippet herself. Thick build on her but still that 1/4 whippet seems to have carried. Reminds me of a mates bitch from a few years ago. The one lurcher I wish I had owned and infact turned down at the time. A line bred beddy whippet I think, though unknown to us the exact mix. Tiny but so much fun.
  17. I'm not sure it'd matter to you if I was the Attorney General or Al Capone. You're just looking for ways to discredit my opinion. Do I really have to be under criminal investigation to have an informed opinion the law? I understand due process and the justice system well enough for this. Do I have to have been involved with relationship abuse to have an opinion on this law? Why does this always have to be personal? Can we just challenge each other points? I don't need you to say "you win Born" so I can bask in the glory. lol. We can just disagree on this. Personally I like you and others
  18. Someone asked me earlier if I had experienced or witnessed this. I'm not going into detail or going to speak of this further but an ex of mine, a lass I loved irrationally, was controlled by a family member for a very long time so he could sexually abuse her and her friends. Her brother even committed suicide nearly taking an innocent with him. That's in the past and will stay there. I just want to say I'm not as distanced from this as some folks think. That behaviour started well into her childhood so she was technically legally protected already, by more than one law at a guess. Anyway,
  19. beddy whippet to a patt? Yeah saw them too. Yeah probably too much, I want it to stand a chance of catching a rabbit, lol. A second generation or line bred beddy whippet might be the most practical option in truth. Then again I'm in no rush and every now and then a patt whippet does come about. It's just finding something bred 'right'.
  20. I get that. You might not believe me but I do. It's very similar to Kay's post so I'll try to reply to both in one. Cheers.
  21. Kay, I don't even know how to respond to that without making you think I have no sympathy for a person in that situation, as you were. I'm not ignoring you and I welcome your input. I'll try to respond but I want to try to give it some thought to make sure it's sensitive yet still representative of my position on this law.
  22. So you're just mental then? Wading into a thread throwing about verbal over irrelevant opinions?
  23. Yes, if however I only found out after the fact then I'd support them in avoiding a recurrence and if any physical abuse had taken place while in the consensual relationship or stalking/persecution afterwards then in a criminal investigation. My immediate reaction to a controlling relationship though would not be that it is criminal. It is now of course. Look, that ain't gonna persuade you I'm sure. You will believe I don't know what I'm talking about or that I'm an abuser wanting to protect my evil or whatever. Anything other than that I actually see this differently. That's fine mate. B
  24. My opinion won't be popular, I know that. It's a shame though that when someone doesn't know how to engage in a decent level of debate they fall on the lowest form. Folks don't have to be a Uni Professor to challenge me, just respectful and willing. I don't think I've used much language that excludes the average person from doing that.
