i know a place in cumbria where there are hundereds of hares. we killed about 10 three or four weeks on the lamp this season. just got into the game, got it out of our system and will have a lot more respect in future. daytime only from now on.
now that my type of dog, who needs bull. Hope my collie grey bitch turns out like that. She seventeen at the minute, five eighths three eigths, parents both doing everything. Very racey type.
I have just got into it about a year and a half ago. I have got two lurchers and I have every intention of doing things properly, bar poaching as it is imposible to get permission. I would never get rid of a dog unless it didn't chase and in that case I would find it a good pet home. My dogs will be with me untill they die.
thats what i did with my new pup. i have had her out mooching since 12 weeks, she is 17 weeks today and i have just noticed her starting to chase birds this morning. her pace is picking right up and she is starting to venture out further in woodland etc.
My beddy Whippet x collie grey is va good busher, just came naturally to her, but when I go out with my mates borders she waits out a bit more for bolters
yeah my beddy whippet x collie grey runs like this. its been starting to annoy me recently as she has been doing this and not catching, looking like she isnt hardly trying. think it could be her just leaving them as she is about 8/9 weeks since she started bleeding and her breast has thickend so it could be shes just not pushing her self when shes not at her best. i just weighed her before and shes 45 lb and her normal running weight is 37 lb. would this be due to her season?
just weighed my bitch there she 45 lb, before she came into heat when she was running well she was 37 lb. will this be due to water retention etc because of her season or is it due to been fed too much/ not worked enoguh. 8 lb is a lot for a human to put on never mind a dog. she is deffintily running slower but i dont know weather its just because of her season.
how much food should i feed my pup, and my lurcher bitch? i feed mostly dry, but also rabbit and tripe. is there some rule for weight etc. or do i just estimate?
oh i know, like that bloke said earlier it has its positives. the best part about it is you know when the dog is still on the quarry even thoguh you cant see it any more, and if you hunting with a few dogs it alerts the others to get on the chase.
my beddy whipet x colie grey is like this. just got back in from a mooch and she put a hare up ran it for half a field ( never managed to get a turn in as she been a bit off since she came out of heat) and never made a sound. soon as it got into the rough, yapping straight away. did the same with a deer at the begining of the walk. she has never made a sqeek when lamping or running in the open.
