  1. They are supposed to be good eating, have never managed to shoot one. Did you eat it ?
  2. Oddly enough all the brownies and grayling I catch seem to swim straight towards me,no charging except in one direction, something to do with their lateral-line.........I was looking for fishing aids yesterday, buying some stuff in from the far-east,I was going to get a job-lot and flog off the surplus cheap, but I ended up buying 1000 digital pocket-scales instead(not that I have 1000 pockets),dont forget the pics of the finished mount mate,be lucky. Mmmm how very strange.....very sensitive things are lateral lines. Fishing aids ?.......from the far east ?? Skues and Walton will be turn
  3. Sorry old thing, what with the shooting season kicking in i shall not be venturing North until January, but rest assured the old 'Mono' will feel the wind beneath her as she is hurled to the horizan accross a Scottish storm beach................... Cracking pic there fella. I'm loving the lingo by the way, it's amusing yet I can relate to it very easily...lol A fellow enthusiast Muddog ? The eating qualities of Mullet by the way are seriously underated
  4. You are correct, he asked if i wanted gold lettering on the case stating place caught etc........told him better not . Its all locked away upstairs mate.......a warm evening, had no luck on the river...water too low. Tried the Loch, a pair of Peregrines doing a fly past as i walked down to the water and a good Roe buck on the tree line..... First cast at the inflow saw a fish boil, second cast and it all went solid................then moved. I knew it was a good fish you can just tell, it took its time not like the smaller splashy fellows that charge about here and there and give themselves

  6. Thats £100-£166 a POUND?Expensive mate, good job it wasnt bigger. Yes,taxidermy is an expensive business. That trout is a fish of a lifetime for me, unlikely to catch a bigger wild specimen at the places i fish. My mate has some stunning pieces, have my eyes on an Osprey but at over 1k cant justify it. Love going to his place and looking at his latest stock
  7. The taxidermist is a friend who is doing it for favours rendered.....will have to pay for the case but the fish itself would have cost, im guessing £300 - £500...pretty sure its costed by the inch. He's had it a while and i gave him a gentle reminder last week that it will look nice at my new place
  8. Caught him on a Kingfisher Butcher Ghosty. A big lad with a big kype, only fishing 2.5lb leader so was a bit nip and tuck
  9. Poetry Mackem, pure poetry.....twas as if i was back there......a battle i am sure you have had many an evening.
  10. This was a fish taken on a stunning Summers night, alas not 'one off the top' but on a Kingfisher butcher. Its at the taxidermist and will join a 2lb Grayling.
  11. Aaghh yes, i see what you mean, hadnt noticed. A couple of the fish were so eager to take the fly they wrapped the mono.....i mean leader around themselves....such is the quality of the fly
  12. Oh god yes, i like to think of the mono as 'the fly for all occasions'. i quickly took a number of sea trout and a leash of mullet for good measure in the space of 10 minuites I believe carp would regularly fall to it and our Polish friends have had regular success on many a balmy summers evening. I am wondering though what might be tempted on a Northern West coast sea pool in January
  13. Cant remember Hugh Falkus ever mentioning that pattern, intriguing. Most people assume Falkus was the godfather of Sea Trouting His box would be awash with 'teal blue and gold and weasal tail' ........however, for reasons only known to the great man himself, he never cast the mono fly . When the fish are fresh run and intent on running the river i find there is nothing better.........and im sure Hugh would agree that a fish caught on the mono tastes equally as good as one caught on a pheasant arsed special (size 14).
  14. Feck me i didnt know part of Charlie Bronsons rehabilitation was fishing
  15. Had 3 upto 4lb on a mono fly a few weeks back, wiil try and get some pictures up

  20. You may wish to invest in some new scales Lurcher
  21. Most people would have to feel extremely desperate before they took any action which could result in someone's death. Have you got a wife and family? Because if you have, surely you know deep down the lengths you could go too to ensure their safety & well being when the shit hits the fan? Absoloutley Malt, to stab to death an intruder in the course of defending yourself/others etc i can go along with.....but how many of you would chase an intruder through the house.....up the garden path and stick him ? ........and yes i do have a wife and family and wouldnt want to be locked away fr
  22. Slippery slope fellas.........if someone breaks into my house i can kill them...........if someone breaks into my garage i can kill them, coz they might come into the house next...........if someone crashes their car into mine i can kill them coz they might be tooled up and do me in the ensuing argument. The bottom line is its generally frowned upon to kill people and im sure most of you ninja assasins wouldnt go straight for the eliminator if it happened to you
