i put "principles" in quoatation marks is that they wouldent alow prawn before because it was deemen un sporting ect and that fly was (for the most part) the only way to catch salmon, like i said once catches get too low and no coin is comeing in then they allow prawn fishing again, like you say the mind boggles!

Aye true mate but there's nothing better than going down some streamy pool on the Dee or Tweed...waist deep in the flow...small Silver Stoat swinging nicely through the stream and in a fraction of a second all hell breaks loose as the reel is screaming with a 20lb'er that decides to head back to the North Sea ;-)Each to their own you say...I know how I would rather have them ;-) Never done any fly fishing to be honest! ill have to give it a go one day, cant be any more boring than bait fishing ohh a nice shrimp trotting down the current is about the best/most reliable/effective way to get sal

last 3 years my poor keepers pay was helped along greatly by selling skins,wings and tails! we shot nearly 1000 crows,rooks and jackdaws in a week once and sold every wing and scalp i could! i remember it was £22 in postage for the boxes to veniards! i used to send them (and this was only last year mind) mole skins ( up to £1.15 each!) scrow,rook,jackdaw,starling,jays wings magpie tails and wings cock pheasant center tail feathers 5p each (i was sending hundreds off a week some weeks!) and the same for hens duck cul de canard jackdoor scalps! and hare masks ive got a price list so

I just used two rabbit snares stripped down and made into one, with the brass eyelet. tightens up really well, and never been broke. the thiner the wire the better on a good 6ft stick and wheek them out

all the way across the irish sea to get bashed by a lemonade bottle. i saw a 43lb fish from the forth get fed to pigs once! was that the big cock kipper that was caught about 5 years ago? nooo this was taken from the estuary by the village airth it was given to the farmer who hung it in a shed for 4 days then decided he did not want it so cut it in half with a wood axe and fed it to his pigs all £430 worth of it

lots of very good lads out their who work with them full time who would give him a safe good home. or some one who has had birds for 10 years and has now found him self bird less due to his last job commitments but is now looking for a new bird

i know a few guys up scot side who worked them and they recon the biggest danger was the dog drowning when in the holt rather than getting tore up in combat,

i had a pet otter for 2 years whilst in perthshire it was called honey and lived in my caravan with me! it was "house trained" and came to a whistle and would run along behind me chuntering like a ferret! i gave her to a re-homeing center to try and get her back into the wild but she died after 3 months in "their care!"

big dog two more question then why is their an irish word for snake when well theirs no snakes in ireland lol and whats the name for a chorus in a trad/folk song made up of words that sound like the muisic? like "rare old mountain Jew" and "jar of porter" ect i know theirs a galic word for it but can find or remember it
