The lurcher as a hunting companion, or as a killing machine?
TOMO replied to Malt's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
thats ok if its a roe, but what if it was a bigger deer, fallow or somthing or a hind, theres few dogs out there that actualy kill big deer, so of course the lurcher is a companion the hunter has to finsh big game off -

" "A GENNIUS" GET A GRIP , a word thats banded about far to easily, albert einstine was a genius, maybee batehoven, steven hawkin today, not fecking tyson, a good boxer yes and an exciting one to watch, but not a genius , not even if we mean the word in a sporting context,

Come on fellas, it wont do any harm, lets get a few things streight ferrets can and do eat carrion , dead animals that have been dead quite a while, so you can just chuck a rabbit in and leave it a few days, it wont harm them . dont get me wrong im not suggesting chucking in a sheeps head and leaving it a week , but a couple of days for a rabbit , pigion , hare ect , wont do any harm:thumbs:

It's called Evolution matey. One day, many years ago, our ancestors were swimming in the sea. At first our physical adaptability propelled us forward to crawling on land, then living on land, then developing warm blood and hair. Finally when it was time for us to come out of the trees our mental adaptability took over and our brains grew to the task. In the grand scheme of things, in evolutionary terms, only a blink of an eye ago we were little furry rat-like critters. SOME of the feckers on this site still are j.d its amazes me that people belive, but thats there choise. when y

Some lads might be able to, i would like to think i could no probs, but that would proberly be in this country or europe. getting droped in a desert, or jungle, might be a diffrent story in fact i would say verfy few on here would be ok in that situation, unless they have had army training.

we had our first trip up there last week brimmer, we got 46, but that was right in the vally bottom. when speaking to the farmer befor hand , he said there wernt much about...... now 46 aint a bad a score............ but theres going to be very few days with scores like that. i also thought like you brimmer, in all honesty it would be best to leave them well alone ........... but of course you cant do that or someoe else will move in. i think most of my hunting will be done on local permision this year with just a few trips up north to show our face

when i run 2 together, i usualy have one on the slip lead, and one walking at heel, the one at heal will run the rabbit, then swap over........ when running a young dog thats not quite walking to heel as properly as it should i use the slip lead the same as lamp and battery. if running diffrent dogs difrent nights , make shure you take them both for a long run just befor you go out lamping, behind the motor is ideal, obviously dont give the one being lamped much. then make shure your mrs is on board to sort out any howling

muck botts with vibram sole might be ok but the others are crap. mine went like racing slike on the sole within 6 month. i couldnt stand up on a wet grassy sloap also inside they semmed alot of space even though they were the right size , going up or down steep sloaps my feet moved round in side. theres plenty others out there that are better for around 50 - 60 MUCK BOOT AFTER 6 MONTH (the top boot) the other pair are called la crosse and in my opinion are far superior there rubber all the way up have a better sole and are neaprean inside with thin fleese on top , also m
