  1. I have a .17 HMR but it is rarely used. It is defo a marmite calibre , I have seen it perform really well but on other occasions perform poorly. I have only shot half a dozen foxes with it , some dropped on spot but others ran. I have also shot rabbits and hares with it that weren't dead . If I am going rabbit shooting I take the .22LR and only take the HMR on spots where I might meet Charlie...

  14. Think it's been resown, not sure what crop it is.
  15. I noticed a fresh sown field last night whilst out with the rifle which had woodies and crows on it. A quick call to the farmer and he said crack on. So this afternoon I got set up and the action was slow but the woodies decoyed text book style straight in and even landing and with some straight shooting I had a pleasant afternoon.
  16. There was only 2 of us this morning but we got quite a bit done. Great to see the sun getting through once the gorse is cut back , just need to put some feeders in now and jobs a good un.
  17. Back up shoot this morning cutting rides through the gorse , christ I was knackered. Good news though as the resident barn owls have finally nested in the owl box , hope I catch a glimpse of the youngsters when they fledge.
  18. I don't know why I go to bed if going out at 3 or 4 am as just lie awake all night . Then feel totally knackered all day like jet lag.
  19. That is always how I have read and understood to be the case.
  20. Basc and the Scottish government will be liaising to come up with a licensing system so that estates can carry on culling them under licence.
