  1. Could it just be that their cabling or plug is not compatible with other 'plug and play' parts you have that they assumed had different connections - and that they maybe thought you were going to hard wire it all which would have made it compatible? Could you tell us the camera and other parts you have? - and indicate or post a photo of the connections perhaps?
  2. As this spotter is strictly truck powered it never needs to be taken indoors for charging, changing batteries etc. So it - nor its accessories need ever be left at home. I leave the cabling in position with supplied self adhesive cable tidies. Consequently it is very quick to remove the camera assembly from out of sight under the seat and fit it to the windscreen or wherever when I'm ready to use it. I'm only using one of the three 1 meter cable extensions that are supplied for larger trucks or extended mounting requirements. https://youtu.be/-ovyD1ZC3YM
  3. Anyone wanting a demo of this after dark tonight or tomorrow night can arrange to meet me at a location to be arranged later near the East Leicester city border. PM me please so I get an email notification. No phone numbers.
  4. As Ian says and those are what I use because I will not supply anything with batteries fitted in case some numbnut does something silly and burns his house down or whatever - and gets some blame claim firm to sue me for all I have lol. These people have a brilliant reputation on the nightvisionforumuk site - I have only ever bought one and its been totally reliable: http://elwirecraft.co.uk/el-products/el-accessories/12v-rechargeable-li-ion-battery-1800mah-2800mah-or-5000mah-for-el-driver-led/
  5. I used to rate the Pinin - still do as a tool to get out of almost anywhere but I'll never forgive Mitsubishi UK about not undersealing them for the UK's salted roads - they rust like buggery. It failed the MOT this year with umpteen massive holes in difficult to weld places. Their GDI engines also get bunged up with carbon and run lumpy - and noisy tappets are a known niggle too. I replaced it with a Honda CR-V but wish I'd took a better look at the ground clearance rather than be more interested in checking it was factory undersealed and without a hint of rust at nearly 16 years old.
  6. His post says S Wales - get in there quick lol.
  7. It's been pointed out that this dyslexic old git forgot to put a price on the basic unit. I have also added some little extra's: 2 extra 1 metre extension cables to facilitate placing everything exactly where you want them to be. The monitor can now be secured almost anywhere in the truck with blutack or velcro. + four self adhesive cable tidies to allow you to leave the cabling neatly in place and just bring in the camera assembly to stow somewhere out of sight in the car, remember it doesn't need charging up - so you'll never forget to load it. So here is the new packing list
  8. Here is another quick 'Spotter Lamping' video. Basically I mostly drive a bit then stop to scan with the spotter, quarry will often spot a moving illuminator if it points at them. Don't believe the myth they cannot see it, it's just harder to notice it if they are not looking at it while its focused into their eyes. If I'm in a bad position I mostly turn off the illuminator before relocating, then try again. If happy I start the recording, get the rifle into about the right position and only then turn on the rifle mounted red lamp. Be advised if you don't need to record don't get invol
  9. Makes a cracking vehicle setup Dave, easy to mount, they work very well in low light without any IR with the aperture fully open like you said. I'm just making up a bar, so I can mount my vehicle spotter alongside my thermal which I use, should be an awesome combination and remove the need for separate IR on the rifles fitted with NV. Thanks Ian, as you say, it can avoid having to turn on a rifle IR (unless the quarry moves out of the spotter view while your lining up the shot) Also saves the quarry from seeing the rifle IR movment as you address it, and if you are recording the shot
  10. A 'one off special' version is currently for sale. This specific one has the usual 12v 5" HD monitor replaced by a used but good condition self powered 5" screen DVR with a custom made AV in camera cable. 3 x 1 meter extension cables, four self adhesive cable tidies and an adaptor that will allow it to be fitted to a light force remote handle. The 501b IR and my car plug test power supply are not included in this sale. I only have one of these and it is posted elsewhere too. [/url] Price is £260 posted RMSD.
  11. Short notice demo night for this spotter, a hand held spotter and rifle night vision rigs. All are more refined than average digital home built rigs, and I don't use cheap cameras unless stated. Location Eastern Leicester city border. I can carry up four passengers so if anyone wants to see this tonight or tomorrow night get in touch - or arrange for next Sunday or Monday, weather permitting. you need to be able to arrive at dark and be able to stay for an hour or more for the demo. I'm offering this to people with some forum history - and across other forums too.
  12. Rumour has it that front add-ons are not totally reliable yet. I have to say this is regurgitated advice heard from many sources and that I have not tried one myself.
  13. I sometimes have to wait a few days for parts. I have three cameras due tomorrow for example, all other parts are currently here. I can usually supply one within a week. I took a mate out lamping with me on Sunday night and exploited the opportunity to video some spotter lamping - he's a member on here so will probably chip in lol https://youtu.be/b3JODhah--k.
  14. Thank you very much for the product introduction Ian, I can't think of anything more to add to it but members can contact me for specific information as required, or ask me on this thread. The spotter is best used in a static role or by a lamp man/spotter man lol. I should caution that 'driving by spotter' in the past has led to me running over golf course greens etc that I didn't ought to have. I got completely disorientated because my natural night eyesight had been lost due to concentrating on the screen - and I also got motion sickness. I have been involved in hand held and truck m
  15. This thread has been a good read thanks. I'm impressed with the image quality seen on the videos.
  16. He wasn't on about your cam micky, sorry blues I've been a bit busy, the cmos board I have in the spotter came from this camera http://www.dhgate.com/product/mini-139-cmos-700tvl-16mm-board-security/157747477.html#s1-16-1|4139453168 although listed as a 1/3 I have my doubts,it could be a 1/4 sensor but works well all the same. The seller is on ebay and will sell just the board no case or lens etc, although I can't recall his name on the bay but message him on dhgate if you want to know more etc. Sorry to hear about the pitfalls in your camera micky,I got one from MC (link on this thread some
  17. I hate to say it to you Mick but this video sums up my own findings about that camera, both were used with default settings: I referred to the poor comparison in the video that follows on from it too. I got a brighter image by altering the OSD settings but it then went jittery when panning across things because the frame rate was lengthened: That's OK for spotting but not for shooting because the bunny could have moved during the lag time and the shot if you get what I mean. I personally suspect the MC camera has a HAD sensor fraudulently described as an ExView sensor. If any
  18. Hmm, night time rabbit shooting - scope mounted torch enough?... does that mean you want to shoot at night with a torch on your scope - which is commonly referred to as 'lamping? If you haven't done any lamping then I'd recommend that route first as night vision is usually the last resort. Too much light is as bad for runners at subsonic range as not enough light is for shooting those further away, and are they lampshy? Without you indicating what sort of range or calibre you shoot you might as well ask how long a piece of string is TBH. Air rifle? rimfire? centrefire?
  19. heres a clip about how to make everything you need' you watch and the tit vids a 'look at what i got'....fffffffff think your right with one little exseption, theyre bored of playing with their dicks lol. I don't bother posting about 'how to make it' as my creations are....well,a true bodge em together type builds ...far better vids/threads out there that show that, loads on the nvf pw etc I do post about results from 'cheap' board cams though and happily help anyone who ask's,and for airgun range you really don't have to spend a small fortune. Hence the vid links will give some id
  20. heres a clip about how to make everything you need' you watch and the tit vids a 'look at what i got'....fffffffff think your right with one little exseption, theyre bored of playing with their dicks lol. Haha, point taken about that type of video - I'll put my hand up as one of the guilty culprits. I'll defend it though - because of the difficulty people have finding a solution to mount the mini box cameras (for example) like the E700 at their usable focal range. Rather than just offer the ready built rig, allowing me to recover some of my tooling up costs and then make a
  21. That's a fair compromise Mick, It has an Exview sensor. The OSD crosshair building is a bit fussier than the KTC ones which are virtually one shot zero capable. Get them to remove the IR filter for you being as they are offering to do it. It's not as easy as the others and many a man has fubared that bit.
  22. Sorry Mick but I'm not going to do a merry go round of cheap supposedly low light camera's - you asked about the best then look for not the best. You don't say what calibre or range you shoot at nor what type of NV you would build. That one has 450 lines as opposed to 700 lines resolution - and how small is that hole for not much light to get through? However a cheap camera will probably suffice for air ranges if you throw more IR out front than you would otherwise need with an E700/EJ230 - or even further if you blast a really powerful amount of IR - but neither of those options
  23. That's a bit like putting minimal foundations under a house build if you don't mind me saying, and you will probably just end up not using it because it's not going to be very impressive: You want the best but will only spend just under half of what it costs - so will get just under half of a decent result. The shit performance will look OK until you really need it to work... The accepted best performing camera is the E700 from SURE24 @ less than £70. Save up if you have to and know you have got the best foundations for your NV build. My advice is don't even start a build with a l
  24. Or just put this E700 camera in yours. It will be a lot more responsive to the IR you already use, but the better unit probably has more IR too - which you may not need: http://www.sure24.co.uk/kpc-e700pub-16b-s-board-cam-ir-filter-removed-16mm-board-lens-1-3-700-tvl-30mm-sq-12v-dc-internal
