Does the mk3m locator pick up mk1 Collars?
John-B replied to salukiwhippet's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I'm still getting to grips with my mk3 locator box, I find it easy to see where the ferret is but haven't quite got the hang of the pinpoint yet, Col who I go ferreting with still uses a mk1 setup and I can pick up his collars as accurate as he can, until i get the hang of the mk3 we always check with the mk1 box before digging -
police took my shotgun certificate
John-B replied to John-B's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The letter reads along the lines of.... information has been brought to my attention that raises concerns regarding your suitabilityto continue to possess firearms without some risk of harm to either yourself or others. following reciept of such information it is normal practice to review the suitability of a certificate holder in terms of that persons fitness to possess a firearm. I would request that you surrender your firearms certificate, any weapons and ammunition held by virtue of this certificate to the police. should you refuse this request i may be left with no alternative oth -

they wont tell me who informed them but surely it wont be the doctor under patient confidentiality, I'm a SKY installations engineer so im in and out of customers houses all the time, i deal with very irate and offensive customers a few times a week and have always kept my calm, but yeah I agree if they think i'm that bad stop me from working and take my driving license off me, bloody A-Holes. -
Does the mk3m locator pick up mk1 Collars?
John-B replied to salukiwhippet's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
NO, the mk1 locator will pick up mk3 collars, but the mk3 locator wont pick up mk1 collars hope this helps. -
Police turned up at my door this week with a letter saying that they wanted my certificate back, for the last 6 months or so i have been suffering from depression but never self harmed or harmed anybody, they wouldn't tell me who tipped them off so what would i have to do if i wanted it back, I don't have any guns any more as i sold up earlier this year but would like to keep hold of my certificate incase i get any invites etc etc, if not would i be able to claim some of the renewal fee back as i only renewed it last year.

is it allways necessary to seperate jills before they give birth
John-B replied to martinabley's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
sorry to but in, but for the first time ever my ferrets have come into season at different times, my black eyed white is due soon but my polecat hasn't come into season yet, will they be ok together? i'm assuming they will be but want to know if anyone else has experience of this as it is the first time it has happened to me, my ferrets usually come into season at the same time. -
be careful when feeding dried food to the kits as they sometimes get wedged in the top of the kits mouth and cause them a lot of stress, a bit like giving your dog a bag of toffee's

ferrets not eating so much is this normal for this time of the year
John-B replied to 1#Hunter's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
mine are also eating very little aswell now, happy days -
This is bouncer, Flat coated retriever, originally a gun dog for retrieving on my rough shoots but I packed all that in, he is now a ferreting dog, he will happily chase rabbits all day (but never caught one haha) however he is very very good at marking sets and putting rabbits to ground from seats and woodland, he has never let us down with a set he has marked, if he doesn't stick his head dowm start whimpering and digging then nobody is home. He's a pain in the arse when trying to get rabbits out of the nets as he wants to lick them to death but i'd be lost without him, he's my best mate
-
forgot to ask...whats the dog youve got..how old is it and does it work Col, I know what you're thinking, someone to put nets over the holes and pack them away when done. What hunting experience do you have? what sex of ferrets are your working ones? are you fit ( i mean fit enough to climb steep hills lol ) do you have ferret locators and collars?

theres not enough money about to buy the hob ive got at present.apart from it being an absolute treasure to work and own,hes made a really good stud.ive got my mates jill in with him now,she is also a good grafter.wether these kits get selt on(which i dont think they will).they wont be cheap.you pay good money for a good animal imo and i wont just sell them to any tom ,dick or harry.i like them to go to a good working home and preferably to people i know will look after them they way they deserve to be True, these little critters won't be sold at Haswell market or free to good home

mine get a varied diet, kitten biscuits mixed with a little olive oil, cat food and warm water. also they get fresh rabbits with guts and everything left in, just cut open the stomach and chuck it in the hutch, they love getting inside the carcass for all the meaty bits, as a treat they get a couple of raw eggs in a porcelain bowl and i just slightly crack the shells and leave the rest to them. Most important thing really is a plentiful supply of fresh drinking water no matter what food they eat.

loads of land out there if you get door knocking.

All took with a battered old nokia phone.

a few months back me and Col-g off this site had no land, knocked a few doors and got some permission, now we have most of the farms surrounding, it would take us a few days to get round all our permissions, just be patient and go knock on some doors. there is even 2 permissions we haven't even set foot on yet.

Good lamp for someone, I had the exact lamp on my rapid 7 with the red filter, used to spot with the big lamp then stalk with the gun lamp and took hundreds of rabbits, good luck with the sale.

I wouldn't pay to shoot, only thing I pay for is when i'm shooting clays at the local club, deffo wouldn't pay to shoot airguns.
-
for woodpigeon i prefer RWS superdomes, all depends on what calibre and what gun though really, woodies are hard to take out at the best of times.
-
Are these guns still made? if not what has replaced them? thinking of going back to my retro years with a springer and my old Carbine served me really well until replaced with a MK1 rapid 7.
