  3. Me and Col tried it the last time we were out and there was tracks galore, loads of raisins outside the sets but nobody home, the sets we got rabbits from were the ones that were sheltered from the snow like in the cover and woodland.
  4. we both have family commitments tomorrow but see what happens after that
  5. Best thing to do is get out and knock on farmers doors, 99.999999% of people on here i would imagine already have permissions and probably the same amount was granted from knocking on doors, but be prepared to be rejected as it is hard to come by
  6. lesson has been learned mate,we wont be going anywhere near those setts again,no matter how many rabbits are in them, were going to stick to the smaller setts regardless of wether we get rabbits or not, well thats until we manage to save our pocket money up enough to buy a jcb,lol we will get those surrounding farms mate and have a choice of sets, we'll have to bivvy up there for a few days to get round them all, I will even fry up some rabbit for our tea
  7. got it for 140 quid, brand new in box, never used
  8. also got a fella making us up some hemp nets at a price you wouldn't believe, he give me 12 before as a tip when i installed his sky and they are the best nets i have ever seen so all is going well, Next question, how the hell do you work this mk3 locator????
  9. OK just seen a advert in the local ad trader, brand new mk3 locator and 2 collars, still in box and never used advertised for 150 quid? is that the going rate or should i offer him a bit less???
  10. Looks like we are getting the neighbouring farms to one of the ones we have already mate, just need to go and give them a knock and drop a few rabbits off next time we are up
  11. I'm tea total mate hahahaha well apart from my hip flask with my special medicinal mixture on cold days at the farm
  12. got 5 days off work and i'm stuck in a rut, the van is full of diesel, Col is also off work but the ferret and ferret locator situation is letting us down, I have 2 jills 1 of which is 6 year old so retired, Col has now got 5 hobs and I think only 1 of them working, also only 1 locator box and collar. Wife is nagging at me to go out, I'm even half tempted to go out Carping a few months early. could go for a look about and see what is in the walls with the dogs but it's not as much fun as ferreting, can't even get any fiddle jobs in to buy some new gear Weather permitting we are going out
  13. COL!!!! How dare you!!! You aren't allowed to go ferreting without me
  14. Now that could be a very good explanation! and would explain why the rabbits were screaming like mad and not bolting.
  15. Go down one day and cut back the brambles etc etc then leave it to rest for a few days to a week then go back and ferret it, if that's all that is there thats all you can ferret you don't really have a choice if theres nothing else about, Me personally I would go for it but many others would just walk away.
  16. Also it was wearing a mk1 collar, so there's 2 ferrets running about the farm now with mk1 collars on...
  17. Col go for it mate, no point sitting around moping over them, get back out and give them rabbits some jipp, you could try phoning Roland and see if he has seen any of them knocking about the barns.
  18. Rabbits have been known to bite aswell.
  19. Let go the rabbit with the young in it? How will you know until you gut it....Or let the young go...because that wont work either You never heard of a milky doe mate??? obviously that is the later stages of pregnancy though.
  20. Aye so was I until i had to pay a 60 quid fine and get 3 points on my license, expensive photo, bet the copper was laughing his head off though
  21. ask him to get the picture up of the speeding ticket off last year brimmer....its mad...hahahaha Aye and that bugger is your fault, making me drive home faster so you could see your lass as you were missing her after a few days fishing HAHAHA
  22. we will be back, and when we are we will be stronger than ever, when we were speaking to the farmer tonight he was asking us if we had got rid of any rabbits from his problem area? he wants rid of them as you can't even walk above the sets as you fall through, so we need to get back on out feet sharpish and i'm sure we will, you can have a go digging for us if you want, i've heard your middle name is digger
  23. where are you at mate? no signs of any yet up in the mountains where we are, still a good covering of snow at a altitude of 1900 feet
  24. Col has now got 5 hobs as he has just got another 2 tonight I have 2 jills but one is retired as she is about 6 year old We prefer using jills but maybe that is where we are going wrong as the rabbits up there seem to extract the urine from us and won't budge. only 1 collar left mate, I'm gonna try and get saved up for a mk3 setup, time to move on with technology. As for the hob on a line I think we would need a JCB to dig it out, we aren't scared of digging but this set is on top of a hill and has the potential to go about 25-30 foot down and is mostly rock.
