    You Tube - Le quotidien des Galgos Many more films on you tube, 50 to 100,000 isnt a few owners. My Galgo had been hung after having its testicles mutilated. Don't let paranoia blind you to sadistic cruelty. I hunt and if I decided to get rid of my dog I would have it pts or find it a home not take it out somewhere break its legs so it couldn't come back home and leave it to die. But everyone to their own ideas of basic human conscience.

    A favourite way to kill the dogs at the end of the hunting season is to put a stick in their mouths to keep them wide open and then leave them to die of thirst or leave them hanging by the neck with only their back feet touching the ground, they take bets on which one will die first. Or they are burned alive or thrown down wells. I lived there I know what I'm talking about.

    The Spanish torture to death, the authorities say 50,000 the rescues say about 100,000 coursing dogs a year in the most barbaric ways imaginable. Look on You Tube under Galgos. I'd steer clear if you like dogs.

    I'm thinking of getting another dog, does anybody have any experience of these hounds. Do they work?

    This is very dissapointing the least he could have done was hold his hands up and say it didn't make the grade. I have nothing against Poodles I have two who work very well for me. I'm thinking of training a toy Poodle for Working trials in the future, his feedback would have been helpful.

    The school has received so many complaints they have apparently backed down and reverted to Christmas. I'm sure they will wait till they have more anti Christmas people and try again!

    Has anyone else encountered this. A woman I know has two children in Primary School in North Wales, they came home yesteday saying they had been told not to say Christmas anymore they were to call it Ho Ho Ho day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an outrageous affront to Christianity. Why do people sit on their backsides and do nothing about this sort of thing?

    I've seen it with my own eyes at Saluki coursing meets before the ban... So I honestly f****n believe that.. Ruweis Salukis - Karen Fisher - The home of smooth and feathered Salukis from recent desert bred origins, is well known for showing her Salukis and did very well at coursing meets in the past..     If it's any consolation my fathers Collie killed a sheep and he kept it quiet it was out with my small very nice dog and decided to do the same thing again this time taking my dog with it. Result two dogs shot on sight. This incident was actually the reason I got into dog training.

    Are you saying that you keep the sloes in the alcohol for a year, or nearly a year ? If so, that's too long. I macerate fruit for about four months or so, strain and then it can carry on maturing. When I takr the fruit out after a few months its still a funny colour.

    I use a clean dog slicker brush to puncture the berries you can do loads at once. I'm sure this is not why my Sloe Gin is awful lol. It always goes a horrible brown colour, why is this?

    My Sloe Jin always goes a horrible mucky brown colour even if I strain it before a year is out. Why is this? It tastes vile also.

    I make Sloe Gin every year and it is always the same horrible and a complete waste of good Gin. Has anyone got a good recipe, the Almond Oil idea sounds good.

    I'm having trouble with Poachers! I'm not against hunting my dogs work but I'm bloody annoyed. For the past few weeks I've gone out in the mornings and my stock, horses and sheep have been really nervous and one horse has run into a post and injured itself, not badly thank god. It was obvious something was scaring them at night so we rigged up a cctv so we could see what was happening. Lo and behold a couple of running dogs were coming through after rabbits and running amongst them causing panic the owner could clearly be heard calling them off, but not soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

    Wish I could have found a working line dog when I got mine I'd looked for ages and rung around. It was either a show line or nothing so I bought show line. He will make a half hearted effort but theres no intensity. Two of my other dogs are good on rabbits and the info I've picked up on here has been really useful but I would have like to have worked my Deerhound. I have found in the past people say show line dogs can work and they can but it's only when you see them next to the real deal you realise working line every time.

    Helens right, forget most deerhounds from show lines..My deerhounds would face lions, and one of my dogs had a particular hatered of Alsations, used to throw the guard dog from a local scrap year all over the place if he got half a chance. Theres an injection that can help anyones deerhound that performs as Helen suggests, its cheap and made of lead and the effects last a long, long time Would be very tempted if he wasn't the nicest dog I have ever met, his temperament makes up for his other failings and he is gorgeous to look at. Wish I had one of yours. e

    I would say NO lovely dogs but a bird retriever, mine sometimes retrieves as long as something more interesting dosn't come along or he fancies a run. He turns like a tanker and won't go near water. Oh I forgot when he was faced with a rabbit he heaved and walked off!! I have heard Doxhope are good workers. my experience of show line is you can forget it, sure there will be an exception somewhere, just with it was mine!

    He reckons he's had a dna test and his dogs the father but he has no proof of the test ever being done. Im pretty sure a DNA test costs more than £ and he couldnt afford to pay me that. He's paying for my dog serving his bitch.... my dog served his bitch so it doesnt matter whether his dog got to her or not or if he put them all to sleep MY DOG TIED so he has to pay.
