  1. I reckon a large version of the 'Danny Champion of the world' sticky cone "First of all you dig a little hole in the ground. Then you twist a piece of papaer into the shape of a cone and you fit this into the hole, hollow end up, like a cup. Then you smear the inside of the paper cup with glue and drop in a few raisins. At the same time, you lay a trail of raisins along the ground leading up to it. Now, the ols pheasant comes pecking along the trail of raisins, and when he gets to the holw he pops his head inside to gobble up the raisins and the next thing he knows he's got a paper ha

  3. As ditchy said - this works for me next morning
  4. I've finally had my order through from the states - what a game that's been - and I have a few spare pocket poppers if anyone is interested. I know that it's not worth putting in an order for just one or two so I thought I'd order a few extra in case anyone wanted one to try. Basically these are 'holders' for the bodygrip type of trap. Discussed in this thread http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=19907 £5 each plus what ever the post comes to but they're fairly light so that shouldn't bee too much. PM me if you're interested
  5. I like the improvised springs Beagles. Good luck with it.
  6. It's a good job, but I can't make up my mind if I like it or not though. I'm a bit of a purist and like guns in wood and black. Do you think camoing up makes that much difference ?
  7. Beagles that looks like a tody job there mate. As a catching box, baited with eggs or a rabbit, I think it would work just fine. Although I can't see if there is a spot on the central frame somewhere to lodge the other end of the 'collapsing perch'. However as a full Larsen I think you might have a problem as I don't think that half of that box would be big enough for the legal minimums for the call bird compartment. By the look of it though you've not divided it and have mesh all over the top so maybe a single catching box was all you had in mind. Credit top you mate, you're ha
  8. Looks like you've taken you time on that. Looks a neat job. Just be careful where you put it down
  9. LL - is Classfields a special section just for fieldsports sales then ?
  10. Here you go Beagles http://www.thehuntinglife.com/html/section...arsen-trap.html For some reason it's in the 'other hunting' section of the articles, not the trapping section. John

  14. Paddington - have a look at this thread http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=10886
  15. Just put it at the base of the tree - shouldn't need any bait. That setup works for me
  16. No beagles I think you've done a great job - just trying to help you prefect it. A block would probably work yes, as long as the 'step' isn't too high. Another quick fix might be to drill a few holes through the roof and sides, right at the top at the far end. These might let enough light in to create the right affect, but I've never tried that. Also the pivot doesn't have to be in the middle of the seesaw - you can set the hole and the spindle position so that the up and down positions are uneven. It helps if the box is tapered like in your middle pic. You can use weights to
  17. They look like a good job there Beagles. BB is right though - you need an illusion of an open tunnel to get them to go in. Ideally it should look something like this or this
