  1. Well I finished this so as per normal rules it has to go back up. I'll leave this up for a couple of days then pick a name from the hat.
  2. Me aswell please. Check the other thread because I am putting The last English Poachers back up
  3. What I'm thinking is we have a good SW wind here quite alot of the time. Is the .22wmr less affected by the wind compared to the .17hmr? Or are they both about the same? Got to wait for this lockdown to be over, so got plenty of time to think about it.
  4. So I'm thinking either a mouse gun or a .22wmr. Or I might just save a bit of money and wait for the pard nv008 to come back in stock and get one of those and just get better with open sights.
  5. I'm thinking of after this lock down, getting a variation for another rifle. I have got a .22lr and a .223. It will be mostly used for rabbits and that sort of thing. I know I already have a .22lr which is fine for rabbits, but I can't put a scope or a mod on it so I mainly use it for free hand target shooting and general plinking. Not sure if I should go for a .17hmr or .22wmr or something similar. What do you lot think?
  6. He lives down the road from me, ex Olympic shot I believe.
  7. Not sure, having a walk through the woods seeing whats about, same as every other day and and heard something moving around behind me. Spun round and saw movement about 30 yards away and saw a very large dark figure moving away from me and can't explain what it was.
  8. Just wondered if anybody had any strange experiences or sightings whilst hunting in heavy wooded areas. Seen something weird today, can't explain it, and looked into it and apparently there has been a few incidences in the UK and Europe of sightings of the above
  9. I shoot up to 400 yards with a s&b 8*56. Targets start at 100 yards. 400 yard target is a 6" gong.
  10. I'm in again, nearly finished the one I got last time. That will be going back in a day or two
  11. Do you find they bounce at full lock? The one in work does. Used it to lift a lifeguard station onto a beach, kept getting stuck and having to push myself out backwards. The next year we used a JCB telehandler, much better never got stuck once in the soft sand.
  12. Can't phone them, they have closed the phone lines, email only. But they have said crop and livestock protection is essential.
  13. The jackdaws with me are that clever. They only need to see a gun and they are off. I'm sure they even recognize my car
  14. Why would you not be insured? As long as you are shooting legitimately, ie under the general licence rules or protecting lambs they state you are insured
  15. Read the News part. This is from Dyfed-Powys Police firearms home page. BASC advise that you have a letter from the farmer that you shoot for stating that you are protecting his crops or lambs etc.
  16. I've got to agree with you there. We got a herd of Balwen's on one patch of land. Never tried one of them yet, might try one this year.
  17. No panic mate, These new rules are here for a reason
  18. Will do, Soon as I have finished it, it will go back up.
  19. Cheers mate, with tonight's news should have plenty of time to read it
  20. Might end up living on squirrel and mutton if they don't stock up the shops soon

    Welding

I've welded 3mm steel to the back end of a Terracan for the top end of the suspension strut. Put the heat into the thick steel and then join it to the original steel. Might not look pretty, but it passed the MOT. 1.5mm will be fine as long as you put the heat into it first. If you don't you will end up blowing holes everywhere.
  22. Well done mate, more productive night than me then.
  23. First time out in a couple of weeks due to the weather. Got nothing, but still nice to be out. Saw a couple of badgers. Noticed the rabbit population is spreading, still only 5 or 6 in each field, but that's the best it has been for a while. Did see quite a few woodcock in one of the fields, which is nice to see. Did see another lamp shining around the horse paddocks and was wondering who it was. Turns out it was the farmer, taking the dogs for a last walk and checking his old mare at the same time. So all in all, a quiet night, but nice to be out. Cheers Luke.
