  13. excellent advice, all I would add is to try and get between the rabbit and where it will run to ,so the dog and quarry arent running out of the beam, also when your pup does have his first success i think its a good idea to stop for the night ,try and stop on a winner its very tempting to keep going, good luck .INAN

Hawkeye,George Curtis ,wrote a very good autobiography,in which Ballyregan Bob is obviously prominently featured, cant think of the name of it , but it should be available on the web.Ballyregan Bob , is the great grandsire of my youngest lurcher going back to Lucky and his sire Joe,some of the coursing lads may have heard of them, the bookis well worth reading sorry I cant remember the title ,regards Inan
  17. HI Dave ,Before the ban I did a lot of coursing,of course I wouldnt dream of doing it now,one of the best ways to muscle up a dog is bike work, its twice as quick as walking and you canregulate your speed ,start off with 1 perhaps 2 miles at a gentle pace for the first week then gradually build it up increasing the pace as you go,keep an eye on the dogs pads for any soreness or wear, surgical spirit is good for hardening up the pads, depending on the breeding of your dog and how it is looking I used to build up to 6 miles aday at about 8 miles an hour but you can vary things my dogs used to g
