Go on then, here's one. A man walks into a bar and sees his mate with his head in his hands and looking despaired. He asked what the matter was. "Well" says his mate "You know that gorgeous woman from over the way?" "Yeah" "Well, I asked her out on date and she said "yes" the only problem is that every time I see her, I get an erection" "Well that's not so bad, what did you do?" "I decided to duct-tape my knob to my leg." "So, how did the date go?" "Didn't happen, when I called for her she answered the door wearing a really sexy black dress, breasts almost popp

Those travel bags look like a really brainy idea. Can any of you lot imagine taking your ferrets out in bag that they can stick their heads out of? Mine would be out of there in a flash. That's Americanisation of this country for you.

Plenty of interest in this subject then. :search:

I've never had any of the other locator boxes/collars and the mk3m is the first one I've owned, so I'm not in a position to compare. All I can say is that after using it, there has been no problems, the switch, like you say, is extremely useful, it's very accurate and the noise, which is a tad annoying, can be kept down with correct trimming of the pin-pointer. The collars are well made and totally waterproof and the battery life is quite long - 300hrs or so. After hearing about the old boxes, I reckon I've got the advantage with the mk3m. Issues have been raised over whether it works corr

I'm not sure if I'm being blind or something, but I don't see a section on the subject of tracking animals. I have quite a big interest in it and find it an enjoyable pastime. Just wondering if anybody else practises this skill.

I agree with grandadbob. I always smoke my trout and the taste is superb. Somebody mentioned cleaning them properly, this isn't the case. Of course you should clean them properly, but this won't remove the earthyness. I've also eaten Bream, Carp and Pike in Germany and would recommend that any freshwater fish be smoked. Even Mullet can taste quite earthy, as they go high up estuaries and will sift through silt.

You're right. A jill will stay in season until it has been mated with. I think the term is 'induced ovulator' which means that they won't produce an egg until they've been mated with. The vulva will become swollen/sore and high levels of oestrogen will bring on anemia. I think the best thing is to get her neutered as some of the other solutions ultimately won't do her any good. I don't know what sort of time period is ok for leaving a jill (safely) in season.

The mechanical theory behind the folding/locking is sound and the locking screw makes sure it isn't going anywhere (Note that I said 'theory'). The build and material quality of it leaves a lot to be desired. I'd rather see some welding rather than rivets and thicker gauge on the bracket holding the blade.

If anybody is thinking of getting a folding shovel, don't bother. I bought one because I was looking to lighten up my gear a bit. On Sunday my poley laid up about 4ft down. I started digging and got to about 1ft into the hole before the bleedin' thing broke - the rivets holding the blade to the handle popped out. This left me cursing, I had a ferret down the hole and nothing to dig him out with. :realmad: I've seen a few of these shovels for sale in various places and, as cheap or as handy as they seem, are a waste of time. Just thought I'd warn anyone else before they go out a

Unbelievable! ...... I'm speechless.

Jesus! I've just clicked on the link to look at it. How can anybody's spelling be that bad? It's a bit like when I go to a restaurant. If they have spelling mistakes on the menu, I don't bother eating there. Anyhow There were 2 dyslexics walking down the street. One said "Can you smell gas?" The other said "Smell gas? I can't even smell my own name!"

would like to know what other people feed there ferrets

what are haggis ? Haggis are elusive scottish creatures. According to some sources, the wild haggis's left legs are of different length than its right legs, allowing it to run quickly around the steep mountains and hillsides, but only in one direction. It is further claimed that there are two varieties of haggis, one with longer left legs and the other with longer right legs. The former variety can run clockwise around a mountain while the latter can run anticlockwise. The two varieties coexist peacefully but are unable to interbreed in the wild because in order for the male of o -
Went out on Sunday for a couple of hours and did a couple of small(ish) burys. The signs were there - fresh tracks and droppings, but no rabbits. My question is: Is the weather too mild and causing the rabbits to lay up in the hedges rather than being down their holes?

Not being funny mate, but ferrets are lactose intolerant and shouldn't be fed milk, unless it's lactose free milk of course. Ferrets shouldn't have any dairy at all. Lactose will give them diarrhoea and this can be life threatening for ferrets due to its dehydration effect. I have heard about ferrets being given whipping cream to help them gain weight after an illness or surgery. Note: This is 'WHIPPING' cream NOT 'WHIPPED' cream. It has a very low level of lactose, but you still have to watch how they react to it and not give them too much. -
Where should I keep a ferret????
Cornio replied to border bunny demolisher's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Not necessarily, rain doesn't always fall horizontally. If it's windy the driving rain could blow into the hutch and leak into the bedding area. I've had to protect a hutch from such an occurence in the past. The area amongst the trees may also mean that this chap can get a bigger cage as opposed to another area like the side of his house or shed. -
I tried something similar and, as far as I know, there are no cheap finders! Anything on Ebay seems to attract a lot of bids and even 2nd hand ones hold their price.
-
I'm pretty sure that when using a tick-puller, you have to turn it anti-clockwise because the ticks bury in clockwise.

Wellbeloved biscuits, fresh chicken breast, fish, the occasional egg (every 2 weeks or so). -
Is it very accurate with the lightbar? I never look at it, I just go by the clicks and trimming the pin-pointer. Maybe I'm turning into a bat lol! The only thing I would say about the pin-pointer is that it's going to be more awkward to use as it gets colder - numb fingers.
-
That's like driving your car around in 2nd gear all the time. The extra feature, in my opinion, is rather useful. But then I am an engineer and a bit of a geek when it comes to things like this. If you say that there's no noise until the end, I can assume that the pin-pointer is turned down. If the pin-pointer is permanently turned down then you've just limited it's search potential from 16ft (max) down to 8ft in one go. It's like using a hammer and holding it near the head instead of holding the handle.

I suppose if you can find the runs, so can whoever is taking the snares. If they know that you're snaring the runs, that's where they'll look. Have you seen any tracks made by whoever is doing it? Maybe you could find out where they are coming from/going to.

Your ferrets are treat like kings,my wife deliberately leaves the bones in when she prepares fish for me I cooked my husband some fish once & i had hells own game getting the bones out properly I've got it down to an art after all these years. It takes a bit longer, but I just can't stand bones and won't enjoy my meal if I find even one. I'm a nightmare when eating out, I always choose a fish dish and try to pick holes in it! The chefs have to be on the ball lol.

Mine were extremely spoilt last week. They had a fillet from a large Gilthead Bream. I made sure that every single bone was removed though, including the small ones on the lateral line.

Here's my recipe, I've had a number of 'picky eaters' try this and they've been licking the plate clean. Marinade it for a day or two first. I prefer a couple of days. Keep turning it a couple of times a day. Marinade: Cheap Red wine Finely chopped shallots Crushed Garlic Fresh Parsley A few juniper berries (8 - 10), slightly crushed Season with salt and pepper Strain the marinade when it comes to cooking the venison and retain it to make the sauce. Slow roast it, covered with foil. Uncover for the last 1/2 hour. For the sauce, heat up a large frying pan or wok. Pou

I do the same as stubby. It helps keep the noise down.
