  1. I went into my local gunshop today, and they've just had a brand new .17HMR CZ 452 Silhouette delivered for me (it had the studs fitted as well) Deker I wanted to ask, how long is the barrel on your gun? The one in the shop looked abit short like it might have been a 16" barrel, instead of a 20" barrel like I wanted. Is there anywhere on the gun that says how long the barrel is (i know i can just measure it..) Also does anyone what barrel lengths are available for this model? (ive heard of 16" and 22.5" , but i thought there was a 20" also) Also I found it a bit strange that it sai
  2. Its nothing to worry about, just try to answer as honestly as possible Mine was more of a chat than an interview anyway (was quite informal) Got the FAC no problems at all
  3. The Sauer looks horrible, and the Blaser doesnt look much better :clapper: Each to their own
  4. http://police.homeoffice.gov.uk/publicatio...pdf?view=Binary This is what is says on ammo, far as i can tell
  5. Yes for ammo storage you can use one of these cheap safes perfectly fine. I got mine for about £15 and my FEO had no problems whatsoever granting my FAC for .22LR and .17HMR. The ammo safe I used was a cheaper version of this It looks exactly like the one in the pic below For the guns you'll need a cabinet that complies to (BS7558:1992) which it seems you allready have. I have this Brattonsound 6/7 Deep Rifle Cabinet ATB
  6. When I use the search feature and type in .308 for example to look in the Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns subforum I get no results Theres loads of posts in there on .308 , why does nothing come up? Any ideas? Cheers
  7. Yes Im almost certain you're right Look in the picture (i know its .22lr) you can see the two studs clearly at the front and rear of the stock http://www.czub.cz/index.php?p=32&idp=...=27&lang=en And here on the .17hmr even clearer Thats really great , dont need to worry about it know
  8. My Local RFD wants £5.50 for 50 .22lr and £10.50 for 50 .17hmr £4.50 for 100 .22lr does sound very good maybe it was a mis type or my RFD is just very gready lol :tongue4:

  10. If you wanted a bolt action .22lr I would get a CZ 452 If you wanted a semi auto .22lr I would get a Ruger 10/22 Both cost around £250 new Have a look on www.guntrader.co.uk , there may be some second hand ones cheaper ATB
  11. Is it difficult to mount a harris bipod to a gun with a synthetic stock? I have heard you drill a small hole for the bipod stud, and then screw it in. Would it be better to get a proper gunsmith to do it? Did you/gunsmith need to use something like this? http://opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetail.as...t2A&cat=291 Thanks
  12. Thanks Im sure I'll still need plently of help to buy the right rifles / scopes / bipods / ammo etc even though i've allready got the FAC :gunsmilie:
  13. Hi Im looking for some more advice on a scope. I need a scope for about £-£100 for my .17hmr to shoot rabbits at about 150yards. I was looking at this BSA Essential 6-24x50 AO from Uttings.com for £88.95 http://www.uttings.com/categories/Shooting...tial.html#62450 http://www.bsaguns.co.uk/scopes_essential.php http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159369 http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii311/x...edDECJAN002.jpg I think this is quite a good price for this scope. I also wanted to ask if this scope has parralex correction? Also what is parralex correction a
  14. where did you get that? sounds like a good price have you got a link? cheers edit :got it dont worry http://www.uttings.com/?Categories/Shooting/Riflescopes/BSA/ looks like a good price, is Bsa a good brand?
  15. Had the visit from my Feo this morning, he said I will get my FAC in 2 weeks Thanks to this forum, for your help in the process Looking to buy a .22LR Ruger 10/22 Synthetic Black and a .17HMR CZ 452 Silhouette. :gunsmilie:
  16. Hi I'd like to buy a ruger 10/22 now as well, one that looks like this http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAP...1&return=Y# I was looking on www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk and they have a similar 10/22, but without for blued barrel, for £258 http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/produc...s_Rifles_Ruger/ If i got the blued version of this gun brand new from my local RFD for £250 , do you think that would be a good price? I havnt contacted them yet, will do tommorow. On the ruger website this version is up for $269, which works out at £192
  17. Thanks for your reply The gun safe is now fitted lol upside down I looked again at the paperwork and it says Its been upside down for 3 days now, and the lock is working fine Edit: Just re-read that quote from the instructions and realised that "designed to be used in the upright position only" just means it cannot be installed horizontally. When the cabinet is upside down that is also an upright (vertical) position. That must right, as it then goes on to talk about how you cannot lie it on its back...
  18. Also the key on my cabinet fits in horizontally, so turning the cabinet upside makes no difference to the key-hole. I have just turned the stickers on the cabinet upside down, and moved the foam inside up to the right height. I will mount it tonight, you will need to look very closely to see that it is infact upside down. As people have allready said though, as long as it secured properly, the cabinet being upside down shouln't make any difference. Thanks
  19. I will be fixing the back of the cabinet to a brick wall using 4x M 8 rawlbolts. As the floor is wooden, I wont be fixing the cabinet to the floor this time. The only real difference in fitting it upside down is that the top of the cabinet will have 2 holes in it. However my ammo safe will be on top of there anyway. I think this should be ok? I'd quite like to fit it this evening Thanks
  20. I have this gun cabinet http://www.thesafeshop.co.uk/products/6-7-rifle-vault.html I was wondering if anyone knew if its acceptable to turn it upside down, so that the doors opens to the left, instead of to the right? The cabinet would fit quite a bit better if the door opened to the left. I assume it would be ok, as it looks almost identical either way up, and I can't really see any reason why there would be a problem with this. Worth checking with the Feo though do you think? Thanks
  21. NEVER use a gun like this to shoot at live quarry
  22. http://www.opticswarehouse.com/support/ Contact them here if you like, they replied to me on the same day! They are a good company, I got my lamp delivered the very next day
  23. Wtf? Is it a gun? In a walking stick, seriously? i cant see, the picture's really bad quality
  24. Thats really great thanks deker, excellent to see the comparison before I buy one. Nice HMR by the way - is it with a SAK mod and a Harris Bipod in that pic? Also just out of curiousity which scope do you have mounted on each one?
