  1. I would get onto the council if i were u mate, thosepigeon spikes dont seem to be working. Nice one mate yor right its not all about killing. I had a woodpigeon squab for a few weeks but one day it just flew off.
  2. I believe they were found in big flocks in towns and cities scavaging in the streets like gulls do today. Must have been some sight! It is an absolutely amazing sight still to me after living 2 miles from the estate the first breeding pair was released in south england going on 30 years ago. I have lived here for going on 7 years now and its still a great sight. Its not un-common to see over 200 circling around the butchers or peoples gardens where meat scraps are chucked out for them and also when here is roadkill lying about it isnt there for long. The estate i beat and help
  3. I would say do the ferreting for free then mention to her that you are a gardener and have experience in fencing so u could rabbit proof it for her cheeply and if the rabbits cause a problem again u are always there to sort them out.
  4. you got a good point there mate. feck that. bet you didnt fire the second barrel after that.
  5. You can tell from the barrel? Tell what? that its a baikal??? The rib looks exactly the same and the barrels go down ( or did in this case) to a really thin point.
  6. surely a wadd would have been pushed out after the shot as a 20bore wadd must be smaller than a 12bore wadd anyway.
  7. Woah f**k me bet u shat yourself a bit when that happened. just shows how important it is to always check your barrels before you load the gun. you were f*****g lucky it went at the muzzel end or you could have been seriously injured. being a side by side i assume its an old gun? looks just like my mates. Baikal??
  8. So your doing the first diploma then?? same course as me. people in halls go down this sunday.
  9. Hi guys. I ordered a felix the fox hoodie from PS Clothing yesterday so am juat waiting for it to arrive sometime this week. was wondering if any of you have one and what do u think of the quality and how warm is it in the winter?
  10. Im going. doing first diploma in game and wlidlife managment. Olim cant u get a place in halls of residence? thats what im doing because its a 2 hour drive down from me. im also 16.
  11. one of the main unwritten rules of ferreting is that you should never enter a ferret after 3PM
  12. Bloody hell, since posting this I spoke to a few family friends and family for reccomendations and have been given 3 pairs. I looked in my bedroom cupboard and found my boots from the season before last that i thought i threw out. took em outside and bashed the mud off and cleaned em up, dubbing'd them and went for a walk with the dog, i found a trough with about 2 inch of water in so i got in it and walked about with good result, i didnt get wet feet so have saved myself alot of money and shopping time. dunno about the pairs i got given yet tho.
  13. Good point. i forgot he has use of longnets. but ifur not using them then its worth it. even if its just 1 hole thats covered its worth doing if youdont have dogs around.
  14. Little trick for ya. If there is too many brambles over a certain hole then lay a net over the run out of the brambles and wait close enough to pounce on it fairly quickly but dont stand directly infront of the holeor the rabbit wont bolt. I have netted a fair few rabbits that whould have otherwise been lost using this tactic. dont do it with nylon nets tho. try and use poly or hemp because nylon nets you will never get off the brambles in 1 piece. hope this helps.
  15. might be an idea to take a pruning saw with you this time of year as the undergrowth is pretty thick still.
  16. in boots 8 but a lot of wellies i fit a 7.
  17. my mate had muckboots that fell apart after 2 months of weekly beating during the season. i got a pair of "fake- rip off" muckboots called muddys they are pretty good but have a hole in them and i gnerally want something more well known.
  18. Hi guys. Reccomend me a decent warm, waterproof pair of boots or wellies, riding boots considered depending on looks and comfort for walkingfor under £60 please. need to buy some for college. cheers.
  19. I second that. Fenn MK4 has to be top of the pain list, magnum bodygrips are a close second.
  20. I use 7 1/2 21grm and I kill cleanly as often as when I use clear pigeon. Like you said its the person behind the gun not the cartridge.
  21. Its nights like that when its almost worth not catching. I took a mate out poac..erm i mean walking the dog with the gun for some late night ferreting and when we were climbing over a fence he slipped and got his foot caught in the top square of some sheep netting and fell over the fence backwards and hung upside down by his foot while we pissed ourselves laughing. couldnt help him for about 5 mins coz we was laughing so much while he just hung there
  22. im talking when you buy one or 2 bags not in bulk. we have nowhere to store it in bulk plus we only got 4 chickens so dont really need that much. still bloody expensive though.
  23. 3o cm is about 10 cm too high. it wants to be about 10 cm lower. as jebus said about the height of your spread out hand.
