  1. Looks like somone pressed the big red button on him ..... well spotted secretagentmole
  2. some Honda parts are a nightmare to get Ian. I needed a new belt for our Honda lawn tractor! searched everywhere online and contacted loads of outlets before I finally got one matched up at a engineering firm...... You could give these two a try http://www.quadpartsdirect.co.uk/index.php http://www.easyquadparts.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=393_1369
  3. spot on Romany you're bang on the button . been reading up on the D40 lately and it seems alot of lens won't auto focus on this camera.... I'm only now trying to match up the same lens I broke just to be on the safe side......
  4. Many thanks lads. Can't beleive the price of them on Ebay, most are fetching round £50 - 60 includeing postage. Like I said in a previouse post I never used it much but it was always there incase! I now miss it like hell for just taking simple snaps.....
  5. hopefully somone can help me out here. I brought a Nikon D40 a few years back and seldom used it up until recently, a few weeks ago I dropped it on to the lens from only about two foot which has knackered the lens up totaly . these lens came as standard AF-S DX ZOOM-NIKKOR 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G ED II. I since tried repairing them because they was totaly jammed and wouldn't Auto focus or manual focus to find some bits broken off inside. the question is I have seen some other lens to replace these on Ebay but some have VR with a seperate switch for this? would these be compatable still with
  6. My god I have just been reading about Craigboy and feel devasted and hurt beyond beleif . I have been away for a good few weeks due to my own illness and just popped on a couple of times and can't beleive whats happend to this good genuine man. in the time I knew him we spent times PM'ing each other about birds and plenty of banter with other lads being both Man Utd supporters. we never met craig but I felt I knew you, RIP my man! forever missed.... Condolences and all my sympathy goes out to his family.
  7. Many thanks John for the comments mate . I'm now finished doing the Goshawks with all the breeding birds going to pals and the like.... I'll pm you soon atb Jasper
  8. spoke to him on the 8th to wish him a happy 72'nd birthday. no doubt about it his blood lines from a Finnish point of view was of the likes you don't see anymore, seen females come out of his aviary just after penning tipping the 4lb mark, seen others he bred in the earley 90's that needed a DEFRA inspector to come round to cable tie them because the closed rings was too tight.. mind you Millets was from the same bloodline from a mother bred from BH

    Tethered

Totaly agree with the above I have a few teathered imprints sitting on bows and blocks, keeps them in contact and the bond going for what I want them for. they get out to weather and picked up all the time which also helps matters. All my P/R birds end up free lofted throughout the moult, they moult out cleaner and quicker this way being kept stress free and on a good diet...
  10. I wish I knew somone who could help you out mate.. it seems the Redtail breeders these days are pretty thin on the ground, shame really as they are a magnificent bird.... You could try the IBR or the Welsh Hawking Club who may well be able to put you onto a local breeder. fingers crossed for you TD Jasper
  11. Go for it TD. lets say you get it in October'ish you would still expect to get a good few weeks flying out of it perhaps even a couple of months or more, if you break this down to days flying and you have the time to get out 5 - 7 times a week its still alot of flying. I wouldn't let taking up a late hawk put you off, if you're on a mission to fly most days you can still have plenty of flying time.........
  12. I wish it was only true mate. with age I'm struggling mentaly aswel as physicaly, I put somthing down and within 5 mins I have forgot where I put it, physically I'm totally falling to peices must say he looks handsome on his block in the first picture. he is alot paler than the bird I had off Lenny and also looks a bit chunkier. took a look back through some old diaries and he flew well at around 1lb 13. the turn of speed on these is also somthing to admire unless you're chaseing with telemetry, the amount of ground they cover when they get them wings Rowwing is incredible! no do
  13. hehehehehehehe!! must admit mate I feel a bit ropey when I look at some of them pictures, I sat and scanned a few through the computer the other week from some old pictures and felt a bit old in the tooth ....... I'll show you my new turbo charged zimmer frame when you come down, if you're good you can have a go on it .......
  14. Lovely pale Gyr/Saker Arctic... I'm sure you are going to have alot of sport and fun with him for the fourth coming season . I picked up a male off Lenny Walters in bonchester bridge in 95, he was meant for crows and started off well but at that time I was flying in a area with plenty of game which was irresistible to him, this male would attempt to plough into the ground with the same enthusiasm. I had much fun with him but fell foul of the landowner and keeper when he took a few head or Partridge and the odd pheasant, he then ended up in 96 going to a guys in stoke on trent and I ended
  15. Hello scott welcome to the forum . this section needs some more longwingers to liven it up mate . I have two P/R females sitting on the ledge penned near the end of the month at the moment, must say I am tempted to take one up because I have acquied some cracking open crow hawking land not far from here, plenty of Black stuff coming off a piggery close by... Tony
  16. It will all come together soon stu. the major turning point is when she feeds off your fist and then you're away . a lad took a young female Harris off me a couple of weeks back which went a good 4 - 5 days before feeding, when she finally fed things have moved forward quickly and the manning proper started, last I heard she was coming a short distance on the crance but have no idea how far he has got since..... won't be long before you are out huntiung with her stu and all your hard work will be justified ....
  17. spot on johnny boy . I'm eating s**t as we speak as I was one who ripped him on here when wimbledon was on . the lad played a blinder in the olympic final and deserved that gold medal around his neck. he played some of the best tennis I have seen him play........
  18. Not got many of the quality above Furgle unless a pal comes down and takes some good shots . mine was nearly all taken before the Digi age with a old Instamatic camera if I could be bothered or remembered to take it out ......

    Red tail

here was my fella first year 1989, I was a bit of a jack the lad back then but always put my birds first... totaly agree with what Redtailhawk1 put above!! these birds will crash in headlong making you think is the bird still alive at the end of it, they'll also take on huge slips when fit over great distances and certainly very gamey ... Its great to see them make a comeback, when I had mine the bird of the moment was the Harrishawk but I loved my redtail for the sport and fun I had with him, fond memories of a great hawk.....
  20. had a conversation a few years ago on another forum about Hooding. it was pretty shocking how many negative responses came back on Hooding shortwings and broadwings!!! Ok I can't see much point in Hooding a Imprint but its horses for courses but I'm yet to see anything negative about Hooding a P/R bird... its all good for the bird expecially in the initial stages of manning and a massive plus through out the birds flying career... Looking forward to reading how things go Stu ....... jasp
  21. seen them advertised £400 males - £800 females . All of mine went to people I know who will fly them, it doesn't bother me just as long as they went to good homes .... its crazy how many people are breeding them now and really havn't really done the homework first, sad really as a Goshawk was pride of place in the falconers mews........
  22. never done it daz.. Most birds soon get used to them when you go out ferreting regular.. then again my old male Redtail was a b*****d, even the Rottweiler we had back then was scared of him . when I had him by the jesses while ferreting it wasn't a problem but if he missed and went and was loose with the ferret still down the hole I wouldn't want to put money on what he would do, I used to try and get him down asap before the ferret popped out... thankfully never had any bird doing the ferrets but have heard of a few accidents ......
  23. Many many thanks ... should have been going out tonight for a meal but decided to watch the football with a few ciders and nice Indian delivered earlier... she wanted to go out but its my birthday and I wanted to watch the football .......
  24. spot on Bullseye she looks a lovely bird.. good to see the Hood being used too ... the set up is very nice also.....
  25. many many thanks all, I'm genuinly Humbled ... Kate upton.. she'll be popping round to see me later Moochara 47 has come round quick Millet... you wait until you come round mate! I'm now hobbling around with a zimmer frame mate ...... thanks again all ...............
