You have done right by the veteran dog,.... Now you deserve some good times with the pup... Don't get too 'into' the youngster,...give him this Winter to grow and allow him to be a pup for a long while yet. Take things SLOW......and continue to look after dear old Spike,... Move the dog on to a completely different kind of situation,...find the critter somewhere different,..its the only way to break this cycle of behaviour,..or,..do the other thing... But do something....and be quick...

Snares are a legitimate tool to assist in the control of various pest species..... HOWEVER,...whereas mistakes can occur,....even when used by experienced operatives,..there is NO excuse for ignorance and blatant cruelty. Snares are best checked TWICE a day to hopefully prevent needless suffering.. And folk who are not willing to learn the correct methods of using such potentially lethal tools,..would be best served by leaving the practice to them that do care... This has nothing to do with antis or their ilk,..its just plain good sense and the actions of any humane person.

Most of the lurchers that I have owned over recent years could run just about fast enough to keep themselves warm,...the lazy fat feckers,... BUT,..I have walked out with various guys that were armed with far superior tykes... I've always made it a rule ,..when standing close to an enthusiast who states that he has taken vast quantities of game with his running dogs,..to,..LOOK at the man,..and not just his jukel Guys that have realy 'walked the walk' always exude the same thing,..and its called PASSION,..not bullshit....

he lives just up the road from me, was at a show selling in his words " Fair day deals, 2 mole traps for a tenner"" sounds good but when you think the wholesalers sells them to the general public for 2.99 it makes you think. the traps he was selling then wernt fenns. as for the dvd, its as good as his one on rabbiting. Well,..IF you ever see this character again,..perhaps educate him that a Body Gripper (as illustrated on his website for Mink) is NOT set on its side, in the manner of a 'jump trap',.such as a Fenn or Sawyer,..
