  1. Try them in olive oil ! Get some pro kolin for him too that will help if hes gt a dodgy belly. I would be concerned if hes got diareah it could be a blockage. Best thing to do would be to ring your local ferret rescue and ask them what vet they use as they will see more ferrets/know more . You need to keep giving him water little and very often I seear by royal canin convalesence powder (instant version ) its high calorie drink full off vitamins and energy mine love it aswell and can make it how they like it ! ?
  2. Dont use crystal cat litter or clumping. If they swallow it or it gets inside their "bits" its gonna cause a blockage. I use woodbased if you have an home bargains near you they sell 15litre bag for 3 quid. If not try wilko. I use pets at home shavings for other ferrets cause their dust extracted. I use large cat trays and big square potting trays from b & q for big hobs. I deffo would not put any of mi ne at risk of getting their limbs trapped in mesh. Lazy way. Clean daily use disinfectant. I also use some cat litter powdee sprinkle it under litter or shavings absorbs pee smell. Hope t
  3. probs make sense to find homes for them before you breed them.Free ads be full of kits in a few weeks, theyll be shit loads dumped etc. *headbutts wall repeatedly*
  4. i do get what your logic is but tbh its just lazy way imo. cant see how scraping up crap off grass or swillimg it down (espesh in summer!!) would be any easier. you try walking on wire all time.
  5. looks good but id cover that wire mesh floor with boarding really not good for their feet aswell as a leg might manage to get stuck down there
  6. I find the big 1 litre bottles dont leask as much if filled right to top. All i do is unscrew the bolt to take it off the cage and give it a wash.
  7. Got to be the bolt on version. But if they like nowt left in its place you can just see the tiny hole i drilled at the top of the stainless steel cup. Use a cable tie to put through there to secure the cup to the wire holder Lol
  8. Coop cup! From wilko or online
  9. 34 quid here for 15 kg sack with delivery http://www.taylorspetfoods.co.uk/vitalin-complete-dry-ferret-food-534-p.asp You are only getting 14kg with 7 2kg bags for more money.
  10. Vitalin from taylors pet food. Co. Uk. Works out cheaper than buying from the supplier theselves. Vitalin is best one apart from raw meat of course. Its made with rice which is more digestible. You get them shitting alot with others cos their made with wheat. Petsupermarket.co.uk is free delivery on all foods and feedem.co.uk sells quite a few if you like to mix a few brands together.
  11. Yea I find this happens with young ferrets. They seem to grow out of it. Mine just have big ceramic dog bowl.s..sometimes they like to stand in the bowl and crunch away theyve got one for water aaswell. All other bowls they would tip up.
  12. If you dont know the basics why are you even considering breeding. She either needs a jill jab, vasectomised hob or to be spayed..
  13. If you're asking that question sorry to be blunt but surley didnt you read up before you got them and its a bit late asking the question when you had already put themale and female together. :$
  14. Yes and there is positive methods you do not need to hit flick ferrets personally I think its just laziness as people dont have time and patience so quickest way is to flick the ferret on the nose and make it fear people. I dont knowit all but you seem very defensive just because I disagreed. How is it not natural behaviour for a horny ferret to try and shag anything in sight.. the poster said he'd not been like this before then suddenly came into season and started biting so my gues is hormones you know when entire hobs start pacing up and down looking for a mate. And no I havnt tried flicki
  15. Ive always had mine castrated and always lived long and happy lifes. No smell either lol and it does not affect working ability in fact makes working them easier as you can put two in same box without scrapping.
  16. No that will not work ↑ Will just make him fear hands and bite more its his hormones its natural behaviour the ferret wont know what its done wrong. Bloody hell some plonkers on here..
  17. Sounds like hes just horny if hes only just started like thus. Get him castrated.
  18. Is it biting or nipping is it drawing blood. Alot of people mistake nipping for biting. If its not drawing blood its not biting hard enough so it will ne playing lol
  19. Its not that much for the implant. Its about 60- quid and its done same as a microchip except its bigger.
  20. You will need front line spray for fleas. You only can get it from the vets. You will also need to have them both castrated if you want to keep them together. Two hobs in breeding season will no doubt try to fight or shag each other.
  21. my hutches are double meshed with padlocks, I have padlocks on the court and security lights out the back. 6 ft fences all way round ..
  22. I clean the trays everyday, put fresh wood shavings in. On a weekend i bleach all the slabs, and disinfect inside hutches. I wash their bedding every week with a drop of disinfectant. (They have fleece bedding) I top up their food everyday and make sure they have clean water. I sterilise the bottles about twice a week when I see algae starting to appear, bloody stuff. Every weekend i disinfect the littertrays and bowls and soak them in hot water with bleach.
  23. It is pretty hard work trying to get them to eat meat but it can be done. I would soak the dry and add tiny bits of mince/chicken.gradually reducing water in the dry and increasing the size of the meat. Feed a small amount though 2/3 times a day so none gets wasted and you can monitor what he eats.
  24. dont know maybe he was fed wet cat food. I would keep feeding him that if thats the only thing he will eat and add tiny tiny bits of raw meat to it eventually reducing the water untill its dry. You say hes had his nuts off, id also get him scanned at the vets for a microchip as someone as obviously cared about him at some point and could be missing him. If he was mine I would have him at the vets just for peice of mind to look at his mouth. Make sure hes got a heavy bowl of water down, they get more water from bowls and might encourage him to eat more.
  25. I still cant belive someone had bothered to get him castrated and chipped and let him free lol. Think youve ended up with a bargain mate lol.
