  1. What would technically be the 'grandmother' to my jills had no tail and she was an amazing worker in her day i was told. She was also tiny! Only about 8 inces in length (nose - arse) and was very fit even for her age. The 'grandfather' was a monster of a hob though...
  2. My two poley hobs are doing the same the hair on their tails is so thin you can see the skin. One of them is getting very thin (hair and weight) but im sure he'll pile it back on soon hes quite the gut! Am I right in thinking that their fur will feel quite bristley during this? ATB Jordan

I fractured several bones in my hand when covering it up and still have the marks (I was lucky this particular was rather old and had crap springs otherwise Id have broken the bones!) ATB Jordan

    spiders!!!!!!!

I lost one of my tarantulas when I was a kid...didnt tell mother lol never found it to this day. Nice big baboon spider too, for those who dont know what that is (cut long story short) they're nasty! My mate thought one day that he had a black widow in his house cause his ma stood on a big black spider (all she said) turned out to be one if his young tarantulas (his favourite) lol stupid git left the lid off the tank.
  11. Had a wee look round my bit tonight for some rabbits for Harry to get started on again (collie/springer mongrely mix with f**k knows what else) saw more rabbits then I expected as we kept seeing the same one in the garden eating the plants (we had a shot at him but its on stones so thought better of it after a couple of goes) We had 2 really good runs tonight but no result as his fitness needs a little more work. Got him off lead now hissing down the lamp. He kept up a good 4 minutes on one. Turning him only a few times but going the length of about 200 yards after him both ways before it went

    Kestrel

Someone on the IFF suggested a Lanner falcon if its just for flying. What do you make of this? They said that it would take up less space if its just tethered up weathering than a kestrel in an aviary...good point i must say.

    Kestrel

Well Iv done a load of reading on it. Iv read 'Falconry and Hawking by phillip Glasier' twice now so i think im prepared theory wise. Experience I have little but I have a relative that keeps bops up north so if I need help in that aspect im sorted.

    Kestrel

Some very nice pics there Dawn. The american is beautifulbut i agree they're awfully small and very delicate. By 'i dont have room outside' i meant that for a huge aviary to keep something like a hawk in. I have plenty room for weathering as I have a 9 foot long ferret run that goes out for them during the day but that can be folded up and put out of the way you cant do that with an aviary. Plus my garden itself is more shrubs, tree, and large borders of plants then open spaces for me to build an aviary on. But there is plenty land to fly on (permission needed though but easily obtained) and

    Kestrel

Im looking into getting myself a kestrel just for flying rather than hunting with. I have handled bops most of my life on and off (most being harris hawks and owls with a european kestrel a few times) I dont have the space for a larger bop like a HH (even though i would love one) but I have been looking in to getting a smaller bop for flying. Im unsure at which would suit my situation the best a european kes or an american kes. I know that the american is smaller and best suited indoors? But im unsure about the european whether I would need a large enclosure outside or something indoors? And f

I apologise for that accusation as I didnt realise until afterwards thats what would happen. We have had great service from rentokil and I know that they actaully use birds of prey for sme of the jobs and I imagine have great respect for them. I am very sure that if they knew it was a bird of prey they would never of even thought about shooting it. Sorry once again.

    Help please

yes it does bloody exists! The guy from the warehouse said and I quote 'When I phoned the rentokil guy and said there was a bird in the store he said that hed come and shoot it' He never mentioned it was a bird of prey as this was well before I even seen the bird. My mistake I do apologise for not mentioning that. Also I wouldnt take my word of it being a peregrine thats what it looks like from a distance im not an expert, just an enthusiast it could be a sparrowhawk looks similar to both from where I was standing. And foxy09 I havent been ignoring people who ask for help Ive been answering my

I cant think of how he would of got out as someone would have seen him. Im goin to go in tomorrow for a last look. Lets hope hes still about or has managed to escape...not anything worse. Cheers Jordan

    Help please

I work in a DIY store and the other day at the end of my shift I went to dump stuff in the warehouse and was narrowly missed by a blob of bird shite but when I look up sitting there as bright as day is a peregrine falcon. I told me colleagues and they said 'yeah there has been a big bird in the store since thursday'!! I told them that it aint just any bird its a peregrine and if its wild its endangered etc. I couldnt see and jesses or tags on it (but it was sitting directly above me) They also said that they phoned the RSPB and they said that they wouldnt do anyting until it was caught! on
