  4. A good dog person to me is someone who treats their dogs with respect, is firm but fair and has good knowledge of all aspects of dog! More than five words but sod it.
  5. Do the dog women not get say in this thread then?
  6. What's that got to do with the thread? I have 3 lurchers, got a problem with that?
  7. That staff..........is bloody bootiful!!!
  8. I've been bitten a few times, mainly jack russels, can't stand the little barstards!! Springer spaniels, border collies and a golden retriever was the worst, took a chunk out of my arm, all because i tried to put a slip lead on it to get it in it's kennel, it wasn't a nervous dog but a bloody spoilt pet that never had to do as it was told. Scar is still clear as day now.
  9. How old is he and how far into the bitches seasons were they? A mature dog will only be interested in a bitch when she is ready to mate i.e when she is fertile. A young dog will either want to shag anything anywhen or will not be interested at all because of lack of maturity. HTH.
  10. They are both crackers, big black one will definately look better with some weight and muscle on him! YOu should do him proud!
  11. I have 4, a greyhound that is just a pet, a retired 8 year old bitch, a 14 week old pup and a 3 1/2 year old bitch who does all the work she can til my pups old enough to work. As long as you can look after them properly then have as many as you wish.
  12. Fantastic looking pup, real serious look to her, that alaunt is a handsome chap too!
  13. Nice one, good size hare that.
  14. Brilliant pics lofti, dogs looking good, i bet they wished they were closer to those critters!
  15. If it's a puppy yes as it would need alot of time spent with it the first couple of weeks, an adjusted adult then no. But saying that if you couldn't get home at lunch time then i would want someone to let the dog out to releive itself at least.
  16. Thanks for the replies everyone. Come on lads, he never used his 'veg' lol so he doesn't miss them! Regards to who asked whether it was wise to get a greyhound for work with previous foot injurys, i didn't intend on getting him for work at all, he needed a home so i gave him one and if he will work now and again then that's a bonus.I think he's about 2-3 years old.
  17. Thankyou, it will take as long as needs be, theres no rush, he aint going anywhere.
  18. Hello! When did these critters come along? Can't see a pic though! Is the whippet/grey yours aswell?
  19. thanks, going to try and get this one working too, a lot of hard work ahead, your half way there if ya dog is wanting to chase any thing that moves, showing he'll be keen, have you worked a greyhound before? do you think they will be good in the field, have heard different views? I haven't worked a pure grey before, but he won't be till at least next season. He won't be worked hard anyway as that's what my lurchers are for, i will take him out now and agin, but i have heard they are injury prone because they are just all speed and toe injurys, but we will see!
  20. Benylin will help with the cough but there is no cure for it, your dog could have it for upto 3 weeks, keep away from other dogs, don't run him, just because he isn't coughing doesn't mean it's gone. It is highly contagious and there is no cure.Sound advice from skycat.
  21. Nice bitch you have also! Im hoping to give him ago yes, he is really laid back at home and with the other dogs, but outside on a walk he sees anything move and he will grab! Even the other dogs! Just needs abit of work on training and he will be fine.
  22. This is my new Greyhound Danny. He is abit unfit and wants to grab anything that moves at the moment but he will be ok in the end. He got retired because of a foot injury i think, nice lad all the same anyway! What do you all think? He's not for stud either as he has had the chop!
