  1. Federal and state are separate for capital punishment. Banning the death penalty at the federal level won't change how the states deal with their laws. There have been 50 federal executions since 1927. 13 of them were in the Trump administration and all were conducted since last July. Can you tell me which states don't require voter ID? Signatures on ballots are verified using state issued identification (i.e driving licenses.)
  2. I guess we're f*ck*d from wearing the tinfoil hats?
  3. Steady on Mush! You could have lead with "have you ever eaten at Greggs?" or "drank in a Wetherspoons?"
  4. It could be equally the opposite. Who knows? It's nothing new but has become far more obvious and aggressive in the last four years but corporate news is playing us all harder than before. I have a hard time reading a lot of these stories, now, without multiple cross-references and across the entire political spectrum. It's just noise. Clicking articles generates ad revenue and they're all after as much of that money they can get. Raw footage (like the Parler vids I posted in the link above) add perspective but the opinion based narrative can spin it to look like anything they want i
  5. More noise. One story has authorized them to use lethal force. Another says they'll have empty rifles. Who knows which is true if either... It's like digital tinnitus.
  6. I understand the sentiment but this is still us versus them not republicans versus democrats. They're being labelled as insurrectionists, rightly or wrongly, and it'll take much more than what they're doing. They've had more than ample opportunity and it looks more like they're waiting for a miracle. Everyone is apprehensive at the moment and with good reason. The only surprise, for me at least, is that this seems to be a surprise for many. This is playing out exactly how they telegraphed it would. As we close this chapter, and I accept it's not done yet, we have to deal with
  7. Would he be able to do that the day after he's lost all authority to do so? He's had 4 years to attempt any and all of the above but hasn't done much more than start chants at his rallies. It's entirely possible but hasn't that ship already sailed?
  8. ProPublica Article: What Parler Saw During The Attack On The Capitol. Over 500 videos shot during the demonstration from people on the ground. Regardless of your view it's interesting footage.
  9. The trans-Atlantic similarities are pretty damn close, mate. I'm very pro free speech (1st Amendment) so am called racist and anti immigration when I say that Donnie and co have the right to post what they do (I'm a first generation immigrant to the US BTW.) When I say that the tech companies also have a 1A right to allow/censor what they allow on their platform's I'm now pro censorship and pro communism! I'm anti gun control. Like completely. Now I'm a survivalist nutjob/racist/kid killer. When Trump was elected and I was helping teach gun safety with a group of white and hispanic women
  10. Three dots at the top right of the post! (It had me sweating too!)
  11. Same here, mate. Living this side of the pond I get called a liberal because I don't support Trump and his Republicans and I can't post anywhere left leaning because I don't support Biden and his Democrats. When politics inevitably crops up I've called both a communist and a nazi in the same conversation. It's a pickle.
  12. That does surprise me, mate. I thought you'd have said Lewis Hamilton.
  13. Not really. You reap what you sow. He was voted into office and then voted into position by his party. He didn't just magically appear and the public bear some responsibility for that.
  14. From what the internet has shown me of Matt Hancock in the last few weeks the word "oblivious" springs to mind. But that says more about the people that voted for him...
  15. Yes. If you can separate the merit from the personal. Doesn't mean you have to admire the the whole. Would you agree that is one of the big problems in society today? That people have to either fully disregard, or embrace, something without looking at the individual pros and cons?
  16. That would imply some kind of political cohesion to some degree. We've seen on both sides of the Atlantic that these so called leaders wouldn't work together even if they could. It's almost like when they started it sounded like a good idea but when the actual work toll showed up they just f*ck*d it off and drifted like far too many do in the public sector. Before we fix the rudder, maybe we should get a decent f*ck*ng anchor?
  17. It certainly will now that Trump is done. We can only hope that the people will take a more active interest in the process now, although that reads far more utopian as I re-read what I'm typing! Political donors are backing away from Trumpism and while that might be a short term thing it will be like chucking a grenade in, even if it's only for a few months. We'll have to see what comes out of the building once the dust settles. Just to add here that all these Senators that challenged the official results didn't do it because they necessarily believed Trump but because they know tha
  18. Doesn't sound much different to the last 30 years.
  19. The Republican party is now deeply fractured. The future of the duopoly is now firmly in play. I wouldn't say that counts for nothing!
  20. Like charts said. It's up to the states to ask for that assistance. Biden can't deny nor grant that as he's not the president yet.
  21. I hear ya mate. I live here and do follow what effects my daily life extremely closely and for good reason. Same as you do over there. I do see what they're doing to censor and I've said that's wrong on many occasions. I've also stated on numerous occasions that I don't like Biden and that he will be bad for America. I haven't read anything on here that suggests anyone else is pro-Biden either. The point is that he's taken a divided system and divided it further. He's spent four years doing exactly what they all do, whilst promising to correct the ills of previous administrations. He simp
  22. Mine's still got a lot of the blue and white but it's less piercing on the retinas on the THL option with the green.
  23. Have a scroll down to the bottom of the page... it might have the option to change the theme.
  24. Fair comment, mate but this has been ramping up for months. With that many people protesting the electoral vote I'd have expected to see far more LE around than there was. Private security around the nation have been taking steps to bolster security at their installations, and have been telegraphing the potential threat since late September. As the rhetoric from the WH increased, I have a hard time believing that Capitol police would have been that naive. Granted I wouldn't have expected the full stormtrooper outfit but for protestors to be able to enter while it was in session... That is
