  1. Culling is part of the solution but, as I see it, not the only thing that should be done. Yes a cull will help, but only as part of a decent management program.
  2. He's very lucky to own one that will perform such a feat. Or a very proficient marksman. They're listed as 15 - 20yards for a reason. No text talk please.
  3. The highlighted section below... ... would make me very wary about this rifle's capabilities. It's notorious in the industry... avoid. Sorry it sounded like you were looking at buying it.
  4. ... and what is that answer Coney? You can't leave us in suspense like that!
  5. I'd be asking myself the question, why is he selling it? If he's paid less than £30 and is really happy with it why the rush to sell it on? My experience with these rifles has ranged from negative to extremely poor. I haven't shot any of these rifles at consistent groupings, I've never seen two rifles, together, that will chronograph the same. Sure they're cheap enough but I wouldn't be confident trying to take live quarry with them. If you're looking to buy it, think long and hard. Have you seen this rifle perform, to the levels that are claimed or are you taking his word for it?
  6. Excellent news and some great advice, once again, Grim. Know your stuff guys... it'll help in the long run.
  7. I know the rifle very well, I'm just interested to know how he's finding this notorious airgun!
  8. He sounds like one of the lucky ones... what does it chrono at?

    Warn-O-Meter FAQ
  10. As some of you have noticed there is suddenly a Warn-O-Meter attached to the bottom of your member ID bar. What Is The Warn System? The warn system comes with the software that runs The Hunting Life. It can be used by administrators and moderators to advise members against current behavioural trends. Why Is There A Warn System? Firstly because it's programmed into the forum's software. Secondly because it can be used to gently remind members that they must abide by the forum's rules. How Does This Effect Me? The warn bit is pretty self explanatory, in that it's u
  11. This, at least, gives them a chance to atone for their warning. I've had a few constructive PM's, since this was made visible, all genuinely apologetic. I call it rehabilitation and saves any nasty deletions. Like with all things, though, the it won't deter the hardcore idiot. No amount of warnings or niceys will stop them... so we hit delete. Incidentally the word is now worn [sic] off my keyboard.
  12. It's been there since the start of the forum, Mark. Since before both you and I joined. Yep. Another classic case of damned if you do and damned if you don't. If people follow the few rules we do enforce then there won't be a problem. Everyone I've ever warned has been PM'd as to why and has had the option to plead their case there and then. Some bad, some good, some ugly... Of course, as always, members can always take this up with the people that warned them. My PM box is always open and I await the usual abuse and death threats!
  13. It'll stay there permanently unless you're not going to do it again. The whole purpose of the warning system is to do just that, warn. Say someone who has 50% and they're all for text talking, or whatever, is looking at getting their account deleted. If you acknowledge the warn, and don't do it again, drop me a PM and I'll remove it. If you're a repeat offender, I won't because it'll mean you're trying to get away with it. Text talk is the bane of the 21st century. Offenders are dealt with swiftly and harshly.
  14. Have you ever hugged a tree, Deker? I've found that once you get past the initial embarrassment it's very calming and therapeutic.
  15. Click where it says 10%. It'll tell you who did it, when they did it and why.
  16. Agreed. The answer is sound but the delivery wasn't. Next time I'll add a warning! What d'ya reckon?
  17. Right Click the highlighted word, Ditch. It pops up the suggested alternatives.
  18. Be proud Gav! Look how you've influenced forum policy!
  19. This forum is our pro-hunting mouthpiece. We have one agenda and that is to promote fieldsports. Get posting!!
  20. As always I'll argue shot placement over any calibre available. All have their strengths and weaknesses but the biggest weakness of all is the shooter. If you can't hit it accurately, then you can't kill it cleanly.
  21. Great subject for discussion! Thanks Coney! I have no objection to the posting of hunting pictures, providing that respect for the quarry is upheld at all times. That's why I posted our guidelines as I believe these outline what content we should provide. They attracted criticism, from some, but I feel that these guidelines are essential to our mission. Which is to promote hunting. These animals offer an income for some, food for others, and a method of sport for most. Our ancestors harvested these animals and always held them in high regard. I don't see why we can't do the same in 2
