It's a 50/50 split here but it's like you're getting half of the story. Very obviously half of a story. There are some fantastic news outlets that are reporting well, even though it's very clear they're not happy with the subject matter but they're remaining objective throughout. We need more of that but they're getting fewer and further between.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Nothing wrong with paying your respects to arguably one of the world's greatest scrum halves. It's not about grief it's about recognising talent. Especially since neither you, nor I, were fit to lace his boots in the big world of rugby.

I've been reading a lot in the European media, and it seems much more distorted than usual. I understand the concerns, we all have them, but the opposition blame fake news for his election and then continue to publish heavily loaded articles as a rebuttal. Again as much I as don't particularly care for him, he deserves to rise and fall on what he's done not what news agencies say he's done. Pulling in private sector managers to analyze public sector waste is something you and I have prattled on about for ages. He's actually doing it! I never thought I'd live to see that.

You're f****d and it'll be terrific!

Not a rugby fan, then?!

Donald J Trump was inaugurated on 20th January, much to the applaud of this this forum and many others! His no nonsense approach to making America great again was essential to his victory. Since he's been sworn in he's enacted several executive orders, much to the delight/dismay of whoever gives a shit, and has been able to legitimize the use of the phrase "alternative facts." It's no secret that I don't have any particular fondness for King Donald of Orange but it's also no secret that I like to see balance and fairness in reporting, especially in 2017 where every picture combined with a ca

Truly one of the greats. It's a sad day.

Regardless of what you eat check to see where your food is prepared. I've not worked in pest control, now, for nearly a decade but I still cannot eat in a restaurant that I haven't seen the kitchens, or someone I trust has seen the kitchens. Any of the techs on here will know exactly where I'm coming from. Front of the house appearances can be deceptive.

If Clinton wins it's four more years, of the same. If Trump wins there are still enough establishment people to make sure he doesn't do anything ridiculous. It's like Brexit. You voted for it but they're closing ranks and the status quo remains. We live in an oligarchy. The only way your situation changes if you pay for it, and you don't have the anything close to the amount of money it would take to buy a lobbyist.

Like I said, mate, I'd rather see kids raised by people that want to do the job than thrown to the mercy of the system. Anyone that wants to step up and take kids out of care to give them a chance should be helped not hindered. We all know that parenting is about one on one relationships with your kids and if your traditional family isn't going to do that then I'm alright with someone else stepping in and giving it a shot. We're dealing with human beings, not shelter animals. Everyone says the system is f****d. No one is going to change it. Kids in loving families are better off than in ca

I find it very hard to believe that people are offended by poppies. I'd also like to know which people are being forced not to wear them.

Again fair comment. How does one get them to get their collective arses in gear? Yeah Gnash! Postcodes, shoe sizes, political affiliation, etc I don't know the facts and figures but if there are still hundreds (?) of kids in care then there are surely a shortage of adoptive/foster parents? Like I said to Gnash, if there are even hundreds of kids in care then there is a shortage of suitable parents? I understand that Gnash, but what I don't understand is that there are too many kids in care, and not enough people willing to step up. Me included. If a gay couple want

Okay so how do you propose we fix the problem? We still have too many kids in care, and not enough foster/adopting parents. I understand the outrage, in this case, but it's still not magicking up a list of heterosexual, normal British life, parents... Whatever they are in 2016!
-
Fair comment, Lab. So we have a dwindling number of potential parents and a growing number of kids going into the system? It seems pretty f****d up that to give a fighting chance, to a child, you have to jump through so many hoops that you'll tire at the process, yet to have a kid in the first place all you need is a few seconds and a curry... Gnash, where are all these people lining up to adopt?!
-
Little island full of Syrians? You mean the UK?
-
Some of that I can agree with. This particular article has left me shaking my head wondering just what the f**k they were thinking. Again why isn't anyone doing anything about? We're all commenting, sure, but our activism is purely online... You raise another point though. Where are all the heterosexual couples lining up to adopt all these kids, in care?
-
I fully understand, and it's fully justified rage too. There are 65million people in Britain so why isn't anyone doing anything about it? How many heterosexual families, on this forum, will step in and adopt/foster to address the balance? I won't step up so I'm not going to look down on anyone that wants to give another a fair crack at it.
-
Allowing gay couples to adopt has opened up the amount of available adoptive parents? No? If you have more children in care, than you do adoptive parents, you're fighting an uphill battle in child welfare? No? If you allow previously unqualified [legally] people to foster, you remove more children from care and give them a shot at a loving upbringing? Would you rather they stayed in care, or have that shot at a family regardless of the sexuality of the parents? If not why? I ask because I'm genuinely curious. Again I'd rather see kids fostered/adopted by people that care, t

I know we've blurred the lines, and I agree with your original post. That child shouldn't have been disrupted that way. I just think we should be looking out for what's best for the kids. Not sure but I would imagine the very youngest would struggle to articulate themselves. The traditional family structure isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be. Flip of a coin divorce rate, and I know we've all seen shocking instances of parenting from all walks of life. So given the alternative if it opens up options for more kids to leave social services and given a shot at a stable family str

Sadistic people should not be custodians of children. That's across the board. Whatever "system" is devised, the well being of the children should always be the highest of high priorities. If that comes from a gay couple, christian couple, muslim couple, even a satanist couple, I have absolutely no issue with that.

What's council tax? What's the point? The last I read the EU fines the UK £100 a tonne, for any recyclable material that goes into landfill. That racks up quite a bit for 65million people. As no one wants to separate that they feel the need to legislate against it to appear compliant. You do the work, and pay the tax! Wonderful system. Over here there isn't exactly a massive widespread effort to conserve/recycle, I'll concede, but I get paid for taking my recyclable in as opposed to be being taxed for it. Which incentive would make you recycle more? Tax, or reward?
-
Would you prefer gay adoptive parents, or an extended stay in care? I know that isn't the case in this particular story, and I agree with what you've posted, but now that gays are allowed to adopt, would the panel prefer a shot at a loving family or roll the dice with another Rotherham?
-
I'd change the law to reflect that we can't go to war without a referendum.
-
I'm surprised FIFA didn't sanction it because it would give an excuse to market commemorative shirts, but I agree with Gnasher on this one. Who's offended by poppies?
