  1. I don't think banning anything will make a shit of difference, nor is that likely to happen in either of our lifetimes. Trying to defeat an ism with another form of ism just pisses off whoever isn't favoured at that time. I still think a decent constitution that strictly forbids a theocracy is the way forward but Britain has been denied that on a few occasions. Even the US system is open to abuse but is still the best safeguard of individual rights against any form of ism politics. The biggest threat to western living is apathy. If people were concerned enough to act they'd be working on i
  2. Would it be that common with deer though? This end I'd say it's more common than you think. When silly season starts we're constantly finding deer carcasses with the antlers/skull/loins missing. Depends on the size of the animal. These two lads, looking at the report, just decided to drive out one night and start hitting them from the side of the road with a crossbow. Saying that I know a lad that shoots rabbits with a .300WInMag, for practice... I guess some people just want to kill things. Now we're onto the tricky bit... How do you define a sportsman as opposed to a killer?
  3. SS, firstly I'd argue that Islam hasn't taken over anything in the west. It's a religion, and as rabid as some of it's practitioners can be there is no one in western Europe living under it. Secondly, I'd agree that any theocracy is inherently totalitarian by nature, but no one, in western Europe, is living under a theocracy at the moment, with maybe the exception of the Irish. You can see that certain communities are pushing theocratic candidates. Candidates that will argue the wants/wishes/concerns of their constituents. Geert Wilders, from what I've been subjected too, wishes to see a r
  4. Lamped 8 of them with a crossbow, and dumped all of them, in a 4 hour period? They had no intention of using the meat. Not even some of it. They wanted to see how great their crossbows were. The source article reads... They drove their car down the highway at night. Stopped and shot the deer that were grazing on the roadside, and drove on. If you saw how easy this could be, over here in rural USA, you wouldn't call them poachers... Just arseholes.
  5. The only problem you have there is that the courts would give them a 30 sided dice.
  6. Like I said maybe they've had enough of an issue with fascists that they didn't want elect one, and they didn't so the only thing he's occupying is the opposition at least for the short term.
  7. I was referring to recent history. Maybe once was enough?
  8. Could another angle be that the Dutch have already had the experience of fascist occupation, and weren't too keen on repeating the experience?
  9. Bold but, like you said, it might be necessary. Over this side I always hear the argument regarding the economy. To us that means will we get a few scraps here and there but when you look at the news stations, and those pretty graphs, you're seeing billionaires become trillionaires... It doesn't mean much to the average worker other than more overtime for less money... Personally I think the SNP should honour the original referendum. Again it was the will of the people and you shouldn't be able to keep having a do-over until you get the result you want, especially when the results of t
  10. I got my lad into the Alien films last year. I started watching Alien and said 'Give It 10 Minutes...' He huffed a bit and 10 mins later he's hooked. I bought the box set, and Prometheus, and now I have to take him on opening night when it's released here in Utah... Alien:Covenant is the sequel to Prometheus. It's the second of three prequels, penned in, to the original Alien.
  11. It's funny how some of the people who thought the language was stupid insist on using text talk!
  12. Excellent tip! Do you get Project Gutenberg in Blighty? Free out of copyright titles. Legit too.
  13. I'm currently waiting for my copy of 'Blitzed: Drugs In The Third Reich' by Norman Ohler...
  14. I've fancied that one myself. Let us know how it is.
  15. Absolutely but the response was directed because mush said their wasn't another side of the fence. The point is that everyone had their individual interpretation for voting the way they did and the British public simply isn't active enough to keep up the pressure on what is important. Not to mention that with a 52/48% split that the other side is going to be working against them. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.
  16. f**k no... As we keep saying mate, we're a nation of online activists and we get the government we deserve. No one is willing to actually get up and do something.
  17. Stephen Hawking's Brief History Of Time. It'll either put you to sleep or give you insomnia...
  18. It was a pretty big fence, mush. It was victory of less than two percent. Your concerns were sovereign control and making politicians accountable. We both know that's not going to happen. The remainers voted based on their views of the economy, security (strength in numbers with the other EU nations,) some of them actually don't have an issue with immigration either. We also both know that they're equally deluded. Either way the result stands and despite the victory they still vote, pay taxes, and still have the right to their opinions. Regardless of Sturgeon there is enough moment
  19. Depends which side of the fence you're on, mush. I'd argue that's precisely what the remainers feel happened. I watched it all from a distance and what happened with Brexit is what is starting to happen with IndyRef2. Same rhetoric different terminology. Brexit may or may not work. Scottish independence would irreparably harm both nations, IMHO. There is strength in unity.
  20. Absolutely. THL polls also. We know that Scotland leaving the UK would be bad but if you can see that then you can empathise with the remainers... even if it's just a little. With that in mind IndyRef2 could be spectacularly bad, or good, depending on which side you are. It'll take a couple of decades to see the full benefits/consequences though.
  21. We could say the same about the General Talk forum!
  22. That's the beauty of politics in 2017 though... Everyone that guessed, guessed incorrectly. The obvious choice for Brexit was remain. The obvious choice for the US elections was Clinton. All the pollsters said "What's The Point? It's A Done Deal" Then it all went the opposite of the prediction. To assume that they would vote to remain is dangerous. The anecdotal evidence suggests that they would but going off the last 12 months in politics, never say never.
