Decided to have a wonder with the lamp thursday night when we arrived back in wiltshire, looked good conditions and well the dogs could do with a stretch after the three hour car journey.Well joined by Nottzhunter of here (my cousin) and his dog kye we set off about half twelve-ish.We had about ten runs between the two dogs ,well fly only had the one run ,im still not wanting to over do it with her and she made a good catch with a nicely timed strike, she also added another to the bag when one rabbit ran a little too close when it was being coursed by kye and she snatched it just under his nose

Just as i thought fly was on the mend once again ,i decided to sart doing some miles on the bike ,well yesterday noticed she had swelling on one of her toes which cleary is giving her some discomfort. It looks really bruised and is spongy ,knowing theres alot of blackthorn about i soaked it in warm salt water and then checked for any thorns ,but none could be seen .Any ideas what it is ,could it still be a foriegn body well inbeded below the skin or could it be bone damage or other. all the best rew

hi mate im chris's brother ,im not 100% on the breeding now the dam gypsey owned by me was a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie i think and the sire a rough coated dog tim i think that was his name was owned by strawberry nose but you would have to ask him what his make up was. i could only hazard a guess that he was collie/grey x deer/grey but i know he came from up north, cumbria rings a bell and i think strawberry nose got him of a guy called manwell but then again i could be wrong.i have a pick of the sire and some of the dam somewhere i will have to sort them out and try and get them put on for you

Alright mate , the dog in the pic was bred by my dad (chris's brother Rew ) he kept a bitch out of this litter who sadly died 7 years ago i think now ,she was some dog aswell as a worker and family pet . I will ask my dad to reply in my name . Do you know if theres any dogs alive which came from the dog in the pic as sadly my dad never bred from his bitch? all the best rew

Thanks mate shes the brindle one but i know my dads bitch (fawn colour )is doing very well .She has not had the chance to run as much as fly but i know she will also be a real handy juckel .The dam was a whippet greyhound and the sire was a mix of deerhound ,collie ,whippet and greyhound. good hunting rew

Going back through the diary i have kept about how fly has done in her first season of work i read of some great tallys we have took together .Flys first rabbit is one that always makes me proud of my dog ,just like many others first rabbit i guess. But theres three other memories i will mainly talk about or think back to ,the first is catching 17 rabbits whilst lamping ,fly actually only caught 12 and my dads bitch fern (litter sister) caught the other 5 .Not a great tally but a great score for lamping local .we would have struggles to catch 5 the season before with our previous dog so yo

Keep up the good work Georgia ,she's certainly looking alot better now .The more you get her out im sure she'll put more rabbits in the bag for you .Just make sure you don't push her to hard this 6 weeks because its still warm and you dont want her to have any foot injurys before the season starts.all the best good hunting rew

CHEERS NOTTZHUNTER I believe 100 rabbits with one dog is deffinatley doable borderlad with good ground ,perfect conditions and a fit dog.As i was the lad with tomo the night we caught 83 with fly and tara the 100 that night would have deffo been done ,if i can remember rightly the two dogs had plenty of wind left in them it was our lamps that ran out first . p.s i have an average sized cock if 8 inch is still classed as average . good hunting rew

back out with dad lamping last night for roughley an hour and half .both fly and fern ran well again taking 5 from 5 each giving us a tally of ten.dad had been saying ferns strike and turning had been getting better and it was obvious tonight ,rabbits only had a turn in them before they were snatched up.both dogs picked up a couple of squatters and fern had to battle through bushes and a wood to put an end to one fleeing bunny. fly the same ran one rabbit with a very controlled speed and tight turning through some trees jumped two fallen trees and snatched her rabbit up before it could make

she never wants to leave me alone but thats not my fault she cant keep her hands off saying that i can always get out with the dogs because she enjoys coming out with me ,and another bonus is she helps carry the catch . :)see well trained already. good hunting rew

nice write up witton ,i look joke in those photos .it was a good day so thanks for the invite chris ,mac was a pleasure to watch and full of gameness nothing detered him from crashing through some of the thickest of thorn bushes.keep up the work with bracken witton ,we'll have a nights lamping again when we have abit of rain to finish of the season. That little hob of mine worked a treat all day ,quick like his mum used to be but powerfull like his dad there isnt much getting away from him, great little nose on him he knows when theres summet at home or not.I know his brother chris kept back
