Like the other fella said i just dont see how a rivalry can be that intense in everyday life when the clubs are not even in the same City.....kids at school,boys clubs,pubs in the area etc will all support the same club....................All that seperates a West Ham pub from a Millwall pub or estate is the Thames Anyway i think rivalries are great they keep things healthy whether its football or in your personal life you will always give that little bit more of yourself against a rival.... meaning they will always bring out the best in you........as an example all the fighting at footi

Nah thats against the rules that.....a West Ham fan would get lynched turning up at The Den to follow Millwall......by both clubs ! I dont know about olden times but i know just before they went to the Stadium of Light the capacity of Roker Park was down around 23,000...........like i say i preferred it the place had character........................it will be the same for my little mob when we get in the Olympic Stadium it wont be a patch on The Boleyn................but its what they call progress apparently !!

What i meant was Hartlepool have a footie club dont they you have often sprung to the defence of Hartlepool yet your a Sunderland fan.....................thats like me springing to the defence of Millwall ......its more than my lifes worth !

Must admit as an away fan visiting St James Park is head and shoulders better than Stadium of Light......i used to like the old Roker Park ground that was a cracking atmosphere i forget the name of the stand the away fans used to go in now but even though it was that corner bit it was a great atmosphere.....Stadium of Light though they put you high up in that South Stand and its just too open ......all nice facilities and that but you dont go to footie for good pies !!......I always liked St James Park though even when your walking round outside its like the centrepiece of the City you can see

In my experience the most intense rivalries in football are quite often the smaller clubs i know your BVurnley rivalry carries a lot of menace likewise Wolves/West Brom......Southampton/Pompey and of course my own Hammers/Millwall as examples.................i think its because us smaller clubs dont get the part time fans and the prawn sandwich lot taking the wife and kids out for the day..........some areas you dont have a choice in what club you follow its handed down through the ages and with that comes a certain amount of expectation from older to younger generation meaning rivalries are k

In all fairness i can see Sunderland getting out of the bottom 3 they have played all the top teams recently we,ve got them all to come we,ll be in the bottom 3 by christmas no question about it.

Bang on good post that...............we all like to think our own rivalry is the biggest.....but when you have seen more than your own one you quickly realise whats what........and for me a rivalry with nasty intensity tops a plain old big noisy one any day !.....Try a Galatasaray/Fenerbarche or Olympiacos/Panathanaikos.......they will open your eyes
