  1. No cows to be milked or trout farms round our way our school holidays consisted of shaking down ol man Chaudhri in the paki shops for protection from the non existent skinheads that were out to get him or jumping out on the postman !.......lovely little kids we were
  2. got to be gnash Count me out of that i just like to have a little natter i dont want any authority.......its a job for a responsible adult anyway
  3. I agree i cant see any point at all in post match interviews.......every player/fighter etc says the same things you know whats going to be said before they even say it......what sorry times we live in when they have to endure " media training " incase they say the wrong thing......do away with interviews altogether.
  4. wow what a cracking logic i like that i reckon i could probably manoeuvre the mighty Hammers into the greatest team of all time with careful thought !.....let me get this right 5 people beat him so they are all better fighters than him......yet 3 of them he beat in returns so shall we just say Trevor Berbick was the greatest heavyweight in history being as he beat him last......certainly blows my theory out the water about Sugar Ray Robinson.....but at least having only lost 19 fights he could still be in the top 20 of all time.
  5. I think sometimes it can be a generation thing mate......my son used to argue till he was blue in the face that Mike Tyson was the greatest ever and i,d say " dont be so ridiculous "......but then as a youngster i used to argue with my father that Muhammad Ali was the greatest ever and he would say " dont be so ridiculous its Ray Robinson ". It took me until probably about 10 years ago having asked literally hundreds of different people in and around boxing from all generations over many years and watched everything there was to watch on Robinson to accept that my ol man was probably right
  6. ere mate mate mate........when you used to play hide & seek as a kid did you you used to tell everyone where you was hiding You,ll probably get a better response if you take your location down
  7. Max i think you take this forum waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too seriously....you really do !.....I never dodged a question i believe i said " ive explained it once and you didnt except it so i wont explain it again " What more do you want me to say ? i was replying to a post somebody had made about a bloke who hung about a local league football team which put me in mind of a similar story .....only such a bizarre individual as you could possibly take that as a dig from a totally meaningless off the cuff little chinwag years previously......i mean i couldnt care less either way but why did you tell m
  8. 20/30 years ago clubs and doorman had a responsibility to each other we wasnt supposed to be babysitters/social workers once a person was kicked off the premises they was on their own i dont remember any code of conduct to protect people once they was in the street......clubs havent changed society has changed and these scumbags are taking advantage of a basically weak society who no longer think they have any responsibility to themself.
  9. When debating " greatness " of fighters its always easy to get carried away with records and common opponents and start comparing who would beat who and making excuses for this one, reading through all the old stories remembering your favorite bits and forgetting bits you dont like its all so subjective as to judge true greatness of a sports star so many things have to be taken into consideration.....for me the greatest fighter to ever live was Sugar Ray Robinson by quite some distance......greatest heavyweight was Ali followed by Louis.......and in terms of who would beat who through the gener
  10. Its all well and good talking about this " get stuck in " attitude but running round like headless chickens kicking people up in the air is exactly how we have come undone in big tournaments before right back to Gazza lunging in to Beckham and Rooney getting sent off we just cant get away with that in tournament football.....the rest of the world rely on tactics and flair while we are still back in the get stuck in ages football at the highest level has moved on from the roll your sleeves up and run your socks off days.......i dont see the worlds great players running with sweat dripping off t
  11. I had a teacher at school who told me i would end up rich or in prison but either way id have an interesting life........he was a very nice man as it happens i was just too full of fire to realise it at the time......as luck would have it i ran into him many years later and we spent a lovely aftenoon sitting chatting......looking back he had great wisdom where the other teachers were all power hungry c**ts ! I always lived by an old Muhammad Ali saying that i spoke about on the other topic and have accomplished more than i ever thought possible for a scruffy little no mark off the estate s
  12. I believe its because he was the best of his era that makes him the best ever simply because it was the best era ever.
  13. There is no such thing mate....just a stupid word made up so folk can get offended. He was a true legend in every way, a class above many and he believed in what he believed and wasn't scared to stand up for that. Wish there was more like him. RIP Ali. Its a shame theres not more folk around willing to offend in order to stand up for their people like he did we could do with someone like that now.......he inspired people of all races and religions and all walks of life as young lads round here you either wanted to be Bobby Moore or Muhammad Ali we used to come out with his sayings withou
  14. He really had a style that couldnt be taught as he did everything that as a young amateur fighter you get taught not to do !......his timing and balance were impeccable he was the first fighter to make footwork the most important attribute in a fighters arsenal he just seemed to glide in and out of range i remember my old dad calling him a cheat because of the way he moved around the ring......his straight punching, speed and accuracy was so impressive i hardly remember him ever throwing a body shot he was technically untouchable and yet he had the heart and gameness to outmatch his own abilit
  15. Its sad that the world has lost one of the greatest human beings ever to be born in my opinion but at the same time i cant help feeling a bit of relief that he wont be paraded around anymore i hated seeing such a wonderful athlete reduced to the state he was.......he seemed to possess all the important qualities required for competition but he was so much more than just a sportsman and possibly the only sportsman to ever be bigger than his sport.
  16. Since you have asked about 7 times......what exactly is it you want to know ?......you see this is a luxury you wont have had the pleasure of.......when your not bullshitting you can just answer questions you dont have to run away from them......so what is it you actually want to know ?
  17. " stop smashing up that phone box you little c**t ".......is one you dont often hear these days.
  18. I agree.....you really would of thought in the last friendly before a tournament he would know what his team is yet i dont think he even knows what formation he,s going to start them in..........i was listening on Talksport today Perry Groves made me laugh he was on about Kane taking the corners comparing it to when you was at school the kid who could kick the ball the furthest took all the set plays .....why is our most dangerous striker taking corners !......im quite happy with the players Hodgsons picked i just think he is such a negative type of coach that we just wont see them at their b
  19. Thinking about it we rarely call it a packed dinner, we'd say pack-up for your dinner. "Can you do me a sarnie for my pack up? Tar"" Pack up ".......so at the end of the day when your getting ready to go home do you pack up your pack up.......likewise when the good lady asks what you want to drink with your dinner does she ask if you want tea with your tea.No one drinks tea with a meal surely? Other than breaky anyway. You'd have a nice cup of tea after your meal in the lounge/sitting room, maybe a few jammy dodgers to dunk. Like civilised common folk, LOL. Whats wrong with a cuppa rosey wi
  20. Fantastic...............its one of the things i love about this country regional dialect....how saying the same things can seem so absurd
  21. Thinking about it we rarely call it a packed dinner, we'd say pack-up for your dinner. "Can you do me a sarnie for my pack up? Tar" " Pack up ".......so at the end of the day when your getting ready to go home do you pack up your pack up.......likewise when the good lady asks what you want to drink with your dinner does she ask if you want tea with your tea.
  22. Did you have lunch ladies at your school? No we had dinner ladies......possibly because we was eating dinner at 12 as school finished at 3.30......maybe if we was eating sarnies they would of been lunch ladies i dont know. Alright what about this one as well........late aftenoon in the local boozer you,ve been plying a sexy little treacle with drinks and you pluck up the courage to go for it what do you say......." how about i book a table at my favorite restaurant and i take you out to TEA " ....talk about kill the romance
  23. I think ive got yous on the " packed dinner " I can hear it now " oi petal have you put my packed dinner in my packed dinner box for me to eat in my dinner hour "..........the tea thing ok its daft but i get it....but come on a sarnie for your dinner.....no i aint having that
  24. How does it work if you have a sandwich at 12 o clock and a roast dinner at 6 o clock then. Have you had a sandwich for your dinner and a roast for your tea ? ............do yous ask the ol woman to send you off to work with a nice sausage sandwich for your packed dinner ?
  25. Todays top amateurs in England ( probably the same in Russia, maybe even Cuba ) are virtually pros without the finanical rewards of being a pro......they get all the funding, dieticians,s&c etc that pros get.......the facility up in Sheffield is state of the art where fighters will live in and have as much if not more benefits than pros.......but the bottom line is most are amateurs because they are not good enough to be pros.......its a completely different sport requiring completely different qualities. A 9 minute point scoring exercise compared to a 36 minute slugfest......it would be
