  1. I contacted Guns International today to purchase the Hawke HD 4-12x50 IR but they were completely sold out, so I decided to buy the 3-9x40 IR instead Which were reduced in price from £44 to £32 due to a closing down sale. The scope is for my .22 BSA Goldstar multishot springer. I would like to say thanks Si (Zini) for recommending the Hawke range and also for all the useful advice you have given me. Also I would like to thank Simon (Pianoman) for providing me with the link to Guns International where I managed to get a great deal on my scope.
  2. Hi Nikkon sterlings are good quality scopes, but for the same price you could buy an Hawke scope with an illuminated recticle. If you want a scope to use in low light conditions go for one with a larger bell like a Hawke Sport HD IR Scope 3-9x50 for £52 or 4-12x50 £56.95 these scopes are more than adequate for hunting. http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/gunroom/sg_scopes.htm Mildots provide useful aiming points holdover/holdunder. A pellets trajectory is a curve that increases sharply with distance so you have to lift the muzzle to compensate at longer ranges. With my 11.5ft/lb .1
  3. Yes I should have said if you manage to hit your quarry. Nice one Phantom
  4. They have a lower BC (ballistic coefficient) so as a general rule most people avoid using pointed pellets because they tend not to be as accurate as roundheads, especially at longer distances. You will also suffer from over penetration using these pellets resulting in less shock delivered to your quarry.
  5. The AA Field diabolo pellets are accurate in my rifles out to 60+yards. I would not use the AA Hunter because they are pointed pellets, they would not be very accurate, but they do give a deeper penetration.
  6. Hi These are very good I bought the 12v xenon version been using it for around 2 years. I was'nt aware that you could buy the filters for them so i've ordered a pack of four filters in various colour from ebay for £5. Thanks matey
  7. Hi Phantom Good shooting mate and thanks for the great write up and pics.
  8. Thanks lads for the feedback You've all been very helpful.
  9. Hi Swiftnbold They are not the same as the old H&N. They are made from a special alloy and lubricated for a lower rate lead fouling and consistant shot spread. They design their own machines and each batch of 50000 pellets go through a strict quality control and inspect them under a microscope. They also have a machine that checks each individual pellet dimension.
  10. Yes it did have an sd card and a sort of mini tape. OK thanks
  11. Thanks for the link Si I wish I never sold my Sony Handy cam, but I did make some profit on it. bought for £70 and sold on ebay for £250. How much are one of these worth now Si? Super nightshot with bluetooth
  12. I'll have to take a trip up to his store and then maybe do a bit of carp fishing to make a day of it whilst in the area. Thanks for the info

    gamo

Hi Carp King Bottom of the pile mate. I would never buy any of their products. My mate bought the Gamo shadow the spring was very twangy it was 7-8ft/lbs out of the box and the build quality was appalling. Do not believe the hype in their adverts. Alan
  14. Hi Paul Si advised me to clean my barrel before changing pellets and then allow around 20 pellets to recoat the barrel. Also I had good groupings in my 97 with AA's, but when I tried lubing them the groups opened up a bit. Napiers are pre lubed maybe that particular barrel does not like lubed pellets. Alan
  15. Hi Now thats how to camo a rifle, thats absolutely beautiful. I wouldn't mind having that done to my 97k. Alan
  16. Thanks for confirming that query RAMCAM pal. You'd better be quick with getting a possible scope bargain from Guns International. Karl Slater, the owner has set himself until December 5th when he vacates the shop. Most of the rifles have gone and the scope stock is selling fast. ATB Simon Hi Simon I gave them a ring this morning but no one answered, I'll have to try again in the morning. Thanks Alan
  17. Hi Simon I can't believe the list of stuff he sells. I just wish his store was bit more local to me, would'nt mine taking a look around. Alan
  18. Hi all Came across this Henry Krank catalogue. I was seaching for cheap Hawke scope prices. He has a vast range of products. http://www.scribd.com/mobile/documents/31188806 And this link is for the newbies (collie). Short video reviews, but very useful tips on stalking rabbits. http://www.airgunshooting.co.uk/videos.aspx?CurrentPage=0
  19. Hi Simon Yes I had the same problem with my Tasco on my 97 I have to use high mounts because the scope covers the pellet chamber. Thanks for the info i'll give Guns International a ring to compare their prices.
  20. Hi Collie No Worries Mate, a least you've learnt from your mistakes. The Tasco Varmint that I have on my 97k is the old model which is no longer in production 6-24x50 AO. It has very good optics and I have read on a american site shortly after purchasing it that it was originally built for a 50cal bullet rifle. I bought it for £50 off ebay 2 years ago second hand the guy said he originally paid £180.
  21. I have to order one when the missies isn't looking. http://airgunstate.co.uk/shop/Hawke_Sport_HD_IR_4-12_x_50_AO_IR_Rifle_Scope.html Thanks once again Si
  22. Yes the IR and bell size makes alot of difference when it start to get dark. I've got the MTC viper 8-32x60 IR on my other rifle, but that's a bit too pricey for a goldstar.
  23. Hi Mate The bloke just sent me a pm telling me it's the model with no mil dots 30/30 recticle. Where is the cheapest place for the 4-12x50 Si?
  24. Nice shooting Si. That crow was bloody lucky. I'll be ordering some of your vids once I get this two story extension and christmas out the way.
