  1. You are getting confused between Trial dogs and drawing dogs. Geronimo made noise on occasion , but was runner up, Dog of the Year in '71,'72.'73 and dog of the year in '74. You must keep some dogs if he wouldn't meet your standard for a drawing dog? Total silence was a way of separating great dogs on any given day in just 6 minutes, a time quick enough to run through every dog in the competition. But not a real test of a dog, gameness or it's real ability as a Drawing Dog in the countryside where it mattered. Don't let rules drawn up by the kennel club dictate to you or anyone what a

  4. Nice 1 lads the sooner the better this weather changes and they can get out doing some proper work ,the B&T dog hasn't even got a dig yet this season because i have been susing out the red bitch but he's rearing to go now and needs a couple of digs
  5. Mate no offence i have a lot of time for the shows but i don't think you will get many dogs in working condition at it because more than likely they will be out working and any that will turn up will be only show dogs. All the best with the show hope it goes well.
  6. Nowadays if a so called strong dog pulls one out at the end (after travelling all of 18 inches) while screaming his head off he soon get his legendary status. if any drawing dog is screaming his head off he is simply a bad drawing dog ,imho a drawing dog should be silent
  7. we did yeah not worth a w@nk, couldn't find a thing but our luck has to change soon. this time last year we've of had twice as much done but i think a lot of fcukers have been at it through the summer and the stuff is harder to find nice pair lurcher 330 was out today nothing at home ya think with all the rain there would be some one home. put 2 out of cover with the hounds so wasn't to bad I think the cover is still heavy enough for them to keep out of the rain and it is still to warm for them to bother staying in the ground.
  8. I like working a hard terrier but sounders are worth there weight in gold if you want to get a lot of digging done and you haven't got room to keep more than a couple of dogs and if you are out to keep a farmer happy a drawing dog will get the job done for you because we all wouldn't qualify for a gun license
  9. nice bitch . what percentage of wheaton is in her ??? nice 1 mate, she is 1/4 wheaten 1/8 bull and 5/8 greyhound one of the best developed wheaten crosses iv seen, if she works as good as she looks then your a very lucky man! 19. i was out today in the lashing of rain doing a bit of bushing with my 3 lurchers and 2 of my terriers in a couple of fields at the back of my house, there is a lot rabbits about but they are hard caught because i walk the dogs in this field every day to excercise, but i had caught 1 and i was on my second time around and 1 of my wheaten x bitchs hit the cover like a ton of bricks, all off a sudden and i heard that distinctive scream that a ferret makes, but she dropped it straight away and moved off it ,now this bitch has been out ferreting with me loads of times with no problems towards the f
