  1. takes me back to a dig we had one dark winter's night. no torch or lamp . mile's from anywhere we had to use our lighter's to see what was going on in the dig. that was a painful dig as the constant use of the lighter nearly burnt ma feckin thumb nail off.
  2. yep bones and all. i feed my chicken carcasses aswell never had a dog choke..
  3. feed em raw. just gut em. leave head, fur, feet on . never did my dog's any harm. they thrived on it.
  4. i'm in cleveland . and a real good shot. i have shot a lot of feral's in the factory's on the dock's in middlesbrough . best i did in a day was 63.. with me trusty webley raider twin shot...
  5. yeah . every time i speak to brian and mention old 'n' new. he say's the same. he's a nice guy nuttall give him a bell. he's alway's willing to chat... the dog's he has now are still going strong. and as for breeding for the american market he cant be arsed ..to much bother exporting dog's . not worth it.. he had a few irish dog lads down a few week's ago getting pup's.. i'v told him about this site but he has no interest in the interweb
  6. work good . if you get a dead crow and put it with the owl to act as prey it work's even better.
  7. saying that a lad i knew years ago never exercised his dog's much. just kept em in run's and they came out when they were needed . he used em like tool's but i never saw these dog's quit. they were rock hard and would stay till the crack of doomsday to ANY quarry. if need be . but they were bred from the right stuff..parkes strain...
  8. yep they gotta be fit to go the distance
  9. yeah i v even caught rat's in tunnel's that have reaked of mink. they are all curious by nature .and the combination of feathers and scent combined. gives a scenario of prey being cached. an easy meal which they wont pass up..
  10. i have blended sardines, mackrell and silver fish into a pulp in the blender. then thinned the mixture down with brine from tinned tuna and mackrell. then i got an ice cube tray filled the cubes with the mixture and froze it. when frozen the cubes fit nicely in to a 2 or 3 oz feeder. use the feeder instead of a lead. when the cubes hit the water they defrost and the mix of fish oil and fish particles disapated through the swim putting a cloud of scent in the water. work's for me..
  11. Christ does it stink. I once decided to keep the pelt from a white stoat. In the process, I must have upset the glands, my hands were stinking for days. That sweet sickly pungent FFS smell.  yeah you are right . but there is no better attractor IMO to sucker em in .
  12. well you need a dead stoat, weasel or mink. the musk gland's are located at the base of the tail just above the arse . skin the critter off and when you get down to the tail peel the skin back carefully and you will expose the gland's one either side of the tail. each is about the size of a grain of sweet corn and yellow in colour. remove em from the carcass carefully. dont puncture them at this stage or you will regret it . once you got em off cleanly intact put them in a plastic screw top jar put a few table spoon's of cod liver oil in with em . then puncture them this will let the mus
  13. i dont do much trappin nowadays . but i realy loved doing it. my favourites which i made were blank holes or run through's dug in bank sides under tree roots ect. as well as inside stone walling or any other good natural location's i could find. no lugging round wooden tunnel's for me . all i took was trap's a trowel and a bag of feathers soaked in musk. i used to use musk glands and pigeon feathers as a lure to draw em in. worked realy well . i no what your sayin about some trap's never catching trap's that we think are a cert. it usualy is the opposite..
  14. You angling for a job? I've seen the frozen sperm vats at the Guide dogs for the blind, they have huge reserves yeah i'l bet they have . i bet the guy's who are extracting the stuff for have huge fore arm's aswell..
  15. yeah but who's gonna give the dog a wank to get the stuff make sure you got a topperware container ready to catch it as well
  16. yeah the poor focker up front usually get's it's face smashed in
  17. no woodies dont always roost in evergreen's. i have roost shot hundreds in deciduos woodland with no leaf cover at all. wild critter's are more tuned in than we are to slight temprature increases ect out of the wind on the lee side of a hill ect. your best mooching about about an hour before dark and see if you can see any bird's flighting to roost ,what direction ect. if you find a good roost you can go back year after year as the use the same spot 's year in year out . and get some good sport i shot 53 one night in a wood i shoot. good luck..
  18. maccerate the skull's. by macceration i mean .dissolve bio logical washing powder in hot water ,put the skull's in the water ,put a lid on the bucket or whatever you use , as the smell get's fockin evil i does help if you can keep the bucket in a warm place . preferably as far away from your living quarters as possible. give the skull a week or so and the flesh will have maccerated off. then bleach it ,air dry it,done .you can boil but boiling damages the skull . for the tail get some borax powder from the chemist .put the powder down the insinde of the tail sheath making sure you get it r
  19. if the fox is still alive and kicking in the snare . and you have no gun to despatch it. take a heavey stout stick [ a pick axe handle is good] or a spade with you when you check the snares.. . a good sharp blow to the head will switch charlie off like a light. sounds a bit barbaric . but you got no other option. and if done correctly one well aimed hard blow will end it quickly..
  20. get some spinner bait's. good lure . work's well for me i caught loads on em. and dont get despondent. lure fishing on it's day can be awsome but more often than not it is slow. just keep at it and have confidence . build up a good selection 'o' lure's ,colour, size, type. stick to it and you will have some good day's..
  21. i have used body grip's for rabbit and mink.. they are quick and easy to use. for mink i dig a blank hole in the river bank. put a handful of pigeon feathers in the back of the hole set the trap in front a couple a guard stick's in front. done. i have caught plenty 'o' mink like this.. for rabbits i used a wire cubby and set it along rabbit run's ,stone wall run throughs ect. i bought body grip basic's ,a video by glen water's . told me everything plain 'n' simple .save you a lotta time trial'n' error. i think the video cost about £8 . but if you are wanting to know about body grippers i
  22. if you can get a dead crow or maggie use this to draw in it's commrades. lay it tit's up out in the open in an obvious place. then sit back and wait . corvids are very curious and this works like a charm on em. when they spot a downed mate they will come to investigate . giving you plenty 'o' time to plug em.
