  1. Top job lads If i could get my laboures to do that. I`ll be a rich man That keeper wil tell that story to all his mates for years to come you will be inundated with calls to sort out problems. Simon.
  2. The perfect lurcher (pot filler) is the one you would never sell
  3. Got a mk3 no probs (3 seasons) like the search feature. I don`t like the collar I wrap it in insulation tape before use the mk3m looks a better collar. I would buy new everytime leave the old ones alone they where great but just for the collector now. They are alot of money to buy but a must have if not just to find a ferret but make the day keep moving along. Simon One question how much would a mint condition new in the box mk1 be
  4. Hi, Firstly hello all I am thinking about a fhh I have been working dogs/ferrets since a youngster and also a builder so accommodation is not a problem. I have read posts on both here and IFF, read a couple of books and watched dvds so I am quiet familiar with the keeping training and entering of a hawk all thats needed is hands on. My main questions would be time. I could commit the time required to man and enter but regarding time spent once the bird is working I would be looking to fly it on a weekend and the occasional midweek day through the season is this satisfactory.
  5. Hi, Father christmass got my wife a treadmill so I have been trying it out with our lurcher. The dog does 6mph for 30 min everyday. It has only been a couple of weeks and I must admit it is a useful tool in maintaing the condition of a dog. I agree its not a substitute for walking/working or my prefered method which is a mountain bike, but during the winter months when its dark when I finish work or if the weather is appalling I can keep the dog in condition. The negative point would be the dog can only walk/trot on it I have tried to increase the speed but the dog finds it difficult to b
  6. Thanks for the info, I have read the "ACT" a couple of times but failed to make sense of it in relation to mink. I think I had best leave the mink alone to do their damage and hunt "rats" on the rivers and streams in the summer when it comes. I have just read the pinned topic at the top of the forum and this explains it in a terms which I understand thanks role on the summer
  7. Hi, I have a pair of terrier pups primrialy for ferreting and was thinking about doing a bit of minking in the summer. I have read the hunting act but am a bit unsure about the legallity of hunting mink with dogs. I have permission to work my dogs on suitable land. Can anybody give me advise on the law relating to this. I used to hunt mink along time ago with a small boddery pack and found it was a good way to keep the dogs keen during the summer lay off. thanks Simon
  8. Never breed dogs for money never will. I only breed for my own needs I cull if needed or give to friends and family. Can think of easier ways of making a bit pocket money. Simon
  9. Someones been reading the ed/rd No I saw a bloke with some on the telly at cla game fair but is there and article in the edrd worth reading just looking for advise on a different breed of terrier than the usual stuff as good as they all are. I fancy something a bit different I got all my kids keen got my boy a lurcher last year and my girls want a terrier each. Any info would on unusal/rare breeds would be helpful in making my decision I will be looking for bitch puppies time scale I am unsure of but some time in the next year Thanks Simon
  10. Think I spelt it wright I am thinking about getting a pair of terriers for a bit of bushing work for vermin and ferreting they will be working along side a lurcher and working streams in the summer for rats ect and of course ground work if the keeper requires it. I fancy something different. Any info would be helpful in making my decision I will be looking for bitch puppies time scale I am unsure of but some time in the next year Thanks Simon
  11. I am only guessing but in your situation if its only a bit of pocket money £1.00per carcass would seem fair to me. If you were thinking about doing it professionally I would be looking at £100-150 per day that would be in the Hereford area but the customer will expect to see you at the end of the day loading up a trailer with dead rabbits. I would keep it casual and on a part time basis for a while Best of luck with your venture Simon
  12. Teal oil/walnut oil I used to be a cabinet maker/french polisher Oil will be perfect apply it as follows ( to bare wood) once a day for a week once a week for a month once a month for a year and every year after that it will look and feel great and be totally weather resistant. Simon
  13. Just showed my son your pics The exitement is building. A nice gun mate post some pics of the gun in action and a review/feedback my son would love it. Simon
